About This Pipe
La Bruyere pipes are carved by Thomas Manzoni, a seasoned artisan who spent nearly two decades honing his craft at the Chapuis-Comoy factory in Saint-Claude, France — the genesis of modern pipe making. The weight of Saint-Claude's history is not lost on Manzoni, as he draws endless inspiration from both the pipe-making institutions and artisans around him. Having trained under skilled craftsmen Pierre Morel and Bruno Nuttens, Manzoni has cultivated a refined style that is sure to delight those drawn to updated takes on Anglo-French designs.
This bent Dublin is a lovely offering from La Bruyere, featuring an energetic, checkmark-like silhouette that's softened slightly by sweeping, gestural curves throughout the shank and stem. The bowl takes on a traditional flare toward the rim, which is slightly raised, and wears a smooth, glossy finish that contrasts strikingly with the rest of the stummel's dark, smoky sandblast. Said sandblast is complemented by a fetching cumberland stem and a gleaming silver band at the junction.
