About This Pipe
Luiz Lavos' journey into pipe making began during his childhood in his grandfather's shop, where he developed a hands-on understanding of woodworking. With a background in graphic design, he merges artistic flair with skilled craftsmanship in his pipe making. His style reflects a blend of classic Danish influence and a bold sensibility that is distinctly his own. Today, he stands as a highly esteemed craftsman not only in Brazil but around the world.
This Bent Dublin is a sleek rendition of the classic shape, featuring a tall bowl that reaches nearly two inches in height. That height is balanced by the slender proportions of the shank, which sits low against the bowl and further emphasizes the contrast between the two. The shank grows straight into a mammoth accent at the junction, offering a pale flash against the otherwise deep, muted palette. A warm cumberland stem follows, fitted with a sleek expansion ring at its base, while its considerable length accounts for much of the pipe's overall profile and further slims the aft. The stummel is sandblasted, bringing out an interplay of growth rings and birdseye across the bowl, while the rim is left smooth and dressed in a warm stain for a touch of contrast.
