Christmas 2026 Deluxe System Rusticated (4s) P-Lip Tobacco Pipe

The "309," or the "4s" as its known in the Deluxe System range, first appeared in Peterson's 1896 catalog, where it was listed as one of eight straight-sided Billiards. It is one of the original shapes that defined the System series, and it enjoys a special place in Peterson's illustrious history — being not only the shape smoked by Basil Rathbone in the last 10 of his Sherlock Holmes films with Universal, but also the shape smoked by Peterson's iconic Thinking Man. Furthermore, the "309" helped solidify Peterson's robust and muscular shaping aesthetic and is one of the marque's largest bent Billiard designs within the System series. It's defined by its tall, tubular bowl, tight-knit transition, and generously bent shank-and-stem arrangement, cutting a substantial and unmistakable silhouette.

An annual release since 2009, Peterson Christmas pipes are among the Irish marque's longest-running traditions — a celebration of the classic Yuletide spirit. The Christmas series has become one of Peterson's most anticipated releases, showcasing the marque's iconic shapes in festive seasonal palettes. One of the most recognizable features of many Peterson Christmas pipes is the inclusion of a copper band, and the 2026 edition carries that warm motif across an array of Deluxe System shapes. The stummels feature one of Peterson's hallmark rustications, finished in a rich red-and-black contrast stain, while P-Lip stems complete each pipe for a timeless Peterson silhouette with just the right touch of festive character.

The Deluxe stamp has always marked the highest tier of System pipe. Boasting select-grade briar, the Deluxe System also benefits from space-fitting stems, evocative of old-school System pipes. This aspect, while never patented, is a prominent Peterson innovation; these stems were "never intended to go quite home," the space between the mount and stem base gradually decreasing with prolonged use. Furthermore, the Deluxe System showcases Peterson's "chimney": an aluminum fitment that extends the tenon past the chamber's airway for optimal System performance.
