About This Pipe
The '338' falls at the very Peterson end of Peterson's pipe shape spectrum. By this, I mean that whereas an old English manufacturer would employ a fairly svelte shank on this shape, Peterson has opted for a thicker shank that gives it a distinctly tubular look. The shape that results here (and elsewhere when Peterson does this) is a really masculine, visually weighty composition. This particular example, featuring the Aran stain and lovely nickel band, sports some nice birdseye on the sides and cross grain in between.
