About This Pipe

Savinelli's Autograph is a limited-production, handmade series from the Italian marque, featuring stummels of specially aged briar that are turned by the workshop's three most experienced carvers. This Autograph bent Dublin is an especially impressive piece, as it bears a "00" stamp: a designation reserved for the line's second-highest possible grade.

There's a subtle playfulness to this piece, with the fluting rim and shank, stylized stem, and stretched, elongated proportions that reveal themselves when viewing the piece from above. In profile, apart from the fluting flourishes, it resembles a fairly traditional bent Dublin. From above, however, the thick rim becomes quite elongated, giving it an unconventionally oblong appearance. Out back, a wide transition offers plenty of space to comfortably drape a digit, and the trajectory of the shank-and-stem arrangement promotes a comfortable smoking posture. The stummel showcases a wealth of gorgeous grain, with dense seas of birdseye swirling around the rim and along the length of the shank, while tight licks of flame grain engulf the bowl and trail across the shank's flanks. Graded so highly and carved by one of Savinelli's foremost artisans, this bent Dublin is sure to secure a venerable place in any pipe collection.
