About This Pipe
A classic, utilitarian shape, the Poker is an inherently practical design, with a character that makes it perfect for all smoking settings. Savinelli's "310 KS" is an iconic rendition of the form. Its robust bowl seems even larger in contrast to the relatively diminutive shank diameter, fitting in well to the marque's typical Italian neoclassic shaping style. Canted forward, the bowl is balanced with a flat heel so the pipe can sit easily, while the rounded rim adds an accenting design element that provides a little more vertical presence.
The vast majority of Savinelli's portfolio consists of pipes drilled with a 6mm airway to accommodate the Italian marque's proprietary balsa filters. While these filtered Savinelli pipes come with an included adapter for use without a filter, some pipe smokers prefer not to deal with that added accessory. Thankfully, Savinelli offers the Tre series: It's a line devoted to pipes with a 3mm draft hole, tre meaning "three" in Italian. No filters. No adapters. Just briar. With this particular offering dressed in the line's chocolate-hued rustication with the added elegance of a trim brass accent ring to contrast the stummel's rugged texture.
- Chuck StanionNote: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.
