G. L. Pease - Kensington 2oz
G. L. Pease Kensington: A Good Low Nicotine Tobacco
For those of us with an aversion to nicotine, finding a tobacco that both tastes good and does not have the negative effects of too much nicotine can be a difficult search. Frog Morton original and On the Town had been my go to tobaccos, but since McClelland went out of business this is no longer an option. Another good option was Hearth & Home Daybreak, but it was discontinued. I have some tins of FM stockpiled but I know they won’t last forever, so I’ve been searching for something to replace it. I tried some of Peterson’s English mixtures, but they all caused me the telltale signs of too much nicotine: mild nausea and dizziness and elevated heartrate. I came across the G.L. Pease English mixtures and tried several of them when they were on sale. Many of them seem quite low in nicotine and do not have the negative effects of nausea and dizziness I get with most tobaccos. Although Charing Cross is my personal favorite, Kensington is also a very good low nicotine blend. It is a bit stronger flavor, more of a medium English blend. It does not seem to me to have toppings or other flavorings added, but just the flavors from the oriental and latakia tobaccos. If you’re searching for a low nicotine English tobacco blend with a medium to strong flavor I highly recommend you give Kensington a try.

G. L. Pease Abingdon: A Good Low Nicotine Tobacco
For those of us with an aversion to nicotine, finding a tobacco that both tastes good and does not have the negative effects of too much nicotine can be a difficult search. Although Charing Cross is my personal favorite, Abingdon is also a very good low nicotine blend. It is quite a bit stronger flavor, more like what I consider a Balkan blend to be. It does not seem to me to have toppings or other flavorings added, but just the flavors from the oriental and latakia tobaccos. I find that Abingdon is similar in flavor to Frog Morton. Not identical to FM but it reminds me of it. If you’re searching for a low nicotine English or Balkan tobacco blend with a moderately strong flavor I highly recommend you give Abingdon a try.

G. L. Pease Odyssey: A Good Low Nicotine Tobacco
For those of us with an aversion to nicotine, finding a tobacco that both tastes good and does not have the negative effects of too much nicotine can be a difficult search. Although Charing Cross is my personal favorite, Odyssey is also a very good low nicotine option for those who prefer a strong tasting tobacco. It does not seem to me to have toppings or other flavorings added, it just uses strong tasting oriental and latakia tobacco leaves. It is considerably stronger in flavor than the other GL Pease English blends, more like what I consider a strong Balkan blend to be. I personally find that Odyssey is overpowering in flavor, even stronger tasting than Frog Morton. While this tobacco is not for me, if you’re searching for a low nicotine Balkan tobacco blend with a strong flavor I highly recommend you give Odyssey a try.
G. L. Pease - Westminster 2oz
G. L. Pease Westminster: A Good Low Nicotine Tobacco
For those of us with an aversion to nicotine, finding a tobacco that both tastes good and does not have the negative effects of too much nicotine can be a difficult search. Frog Morton original and On the Town had been my go to tobaccos, but since McClelland went out of business this is no longer an option. Pease English mixtures and tried several of them when they were on sale. Many of them seem quite low in nicotine and do not have the negative effects of nausea and dizziness I get with most tobaccos. Although Charing Cross is my personal favorite, Westminster is also quite good. Westminster is a more Virginia forward tobacco, with just enough oriental and latakia to add spiciness to the Virginias. To me Westminster is the lightest flavored of the G.L. Pease English blends. I don’t detect any toppings or other added flavors, just the Virginias with some spiciness from the orientals and latakia. It is apparently the most popular of the G.L. Pease English blends since it is the only one available in 16 oz tins. I am going to stock up on a few of these while they are available. If you’re searching for a low nicotine English tobacco blend with subdued flavor, I highly recommend you give Westminster a try.
G. L. Pease - Charing Cross 2oz
G. L. Pease Charing Cross: A Good Low Nicotine Tobacco
My favorite G.L. Pease English tobacco blend is Charing Cross. It has a pleasant spicy flavor with a mild pepperiness that I really like, but is not overpowering like some Balkan blends can be. I find that I actually like this better than Frog Morton. I don’t detect any toppings or other flavorings, just the flavor from the different tobaccos used in the blend. I found the moisture about perfect in the 2 oz and 8 oz tins I have tried, and did not notice that it contained humectants as stated in other reviews. I am going to stock up on some tins of this while they are available. If you’re searching for a low nicotine English tobacco blend I highly recommend you give Charing Cross a try.
Lighters - Kiribi Pipe Lighter - Kabuto Short Black Nickel
Best Pipe Lighter I've Ever Had
The Kiribi pipe lighters hit every possible mark: Quality build, very good looking, easy to flip open and light, extremely durable and long lasting, and they just work and keep working. I tried a number of inexpensive pipe lighters, and they lasted only a few months before they stopped working. Next it was Corona Old Boy and Pipe Master lighters, and they work well for a while, but aren't as long lasting as the Kiribi lighters. I am extremely hard on pipe lighters. I've never really learned to keep a bowl going and have to relight several times each smoke. My Kiribi lighters last for years through all this punishment. My shorty lasts 2 to 3 weeks on a butane refill. My favorite is the short black nickel, but there is enough variety of finishes for anyone to find their favorite. I highly recommend the Kiribi pipe lighters.
