The Aromatic That Changed My Mind
I approached Green River Vanilla with modest expectations. After trying other aromatics, I’d begun to think they simply weren’t for me. Most seemed overly sweet, fussy to keep lit, and less rewarding than the burleys and flakes I usually enjoy. Green River Vanilla completely changed my mind. After about 20 minutes of drying time and a firm pack in a stacked bowl, it performed beautifully. It lit easily, required no relights, burned cool at a relaxed cadence, and stayed dry from beginning to end. The mechanics alone are outstanding. The flavor is what won me over. This isn’t a syrupy, candy-like vanilla aromatic. The tobacco remains the star, while the vanilla complements rather than overwhelms it. The sweetness is restrained, natural, and finishes with a smooth, lingering vanilla note that never becomes cloying. If you’re primarily a burley smoker who’s been skeptical of aromatics, this blend deserves a place on your shortlist. It made a convert out of me. Rating: 5/5
