Cornell & Diehl - Pirate Kake 2oz
The Flavor I Didn't Expect to Miss...
My experience with Pirate Kake was that it changed noticeably after opening. Fresh from the tin, it had a strong marine character with notes of wet wood, an old ship's hold, and a strange dockside funk. That initial character was unusual, but it quickly became one of the most interesting parts of the blend while it lasted. After about three days, that note faded completely, leaving behind a smooth smoke dominated by campfire, leather, dark chocolate, and deep smoky sweetness. This became the main character of the blend. Interestingly, I ended up missing that early tin note and found myself chasing those first few days with each new tin.
