Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening 2oz
C&D Autumn Evening
For an autumn night, Cornell & Diehl’s signature Red Virginia Cavendish comes in a light ribbon cut. Its refined maple topping gives this blend a distinctive and widely popular aromatic character. Smokers will appreciate the quality Virginia flavor, while those nearby are drawn in by the warm, inviting room note. The flavors of caramel, toffee, and vanilla are well done. The natural sweetness from the Virginias harmonizes nicely with the warmth of the caramel topping. There’s a grassy Virginia base underneath, layered with a gentle sweetness — very much like sipping a toffee-and-nut latte. The smoke is slightly dry, but the flavor remains consistent throughout the bowl. Toward the end, the nicotine presence picks up just a touch, enough to be noticed without becoming overwhelming. Overall, this is a solid and well-executed aromatic. The flavor profile is focused and clear, staying mostly within that toffee-nut latte theme from start to finish. Personally, I enjoy it quite a bit. If you’re an aromatic smoker, this is definitely one worth trying.

Presbyterian - Presbyterian 50g
Presbyterian “L” looks fierce at first glance — both in appearance and in name. You’d expect a bold, aggressive blend.
But in reality, it turns out to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. From start to finish, the smoke is remarkably gentle. The aroma carries a soft sweetness, and the overall character is smooth and refined. When puffed lightly, the flavor can even feel subtle to the point of almost disappearing. As the bowl moves into the middle and final third, the flavors gradually build and become more pronounced, adding depth without ever turning harsh. All in all, as a blend for pipe gatherings, this one is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser — it’s hard to imagine anyone not enjoying it.

Cornell & Diehl - Briar Fox 2oz
Fox is one of those blends that has always been highly controversial — truly a “love it or hate it” tobacco.
Some smokers find it excellent, while others think it’s extremely difficult to enjoy. When it was fresh, I smoked around seven or eight bowls and honestly couldn’t quite figure it out. The blend contains a noticeable amount of Burley, which many people describe as having a slightly “funky” or animal-like note. That initial aroma was something I personally didn’t enjoy at all. Now, after nearly ten months of aging, the tobacco has clearly changed. It no longer smells or tastes like it did when it was new. In the early to mid bowl, I start to pick up a gentle sweetness, accompanied by subtle nutty notes. The smoke has also become much smoother and more rounded. My impression is that this blend simply needs time to settle and mature, and it likely benefits from further aging. There’s a reason many people say that young Fox and aged Fox are essentially two different tobaccos.
