Samuel Gawith - Black XX Rope 50g
Strong and meaty
I love this stuff. It's like having desert after your bbq steak.
Stands & Pouches - Brigham 2 Pipe Roll Up - Vintage
Just what I wanted
Fits two good sized pipes comfortably (a but too small for say a Nording Freehand but works well for anything less robust). Tobbacco pouch is a bit small and I recommend keeping your leaf in a small bag inside the pouch. It will work just fine directly in the pouch as it does have a lining but you'll probably want to transfer the old toby if you didn't finish the full 2oz capacity in one trip. Pipe cleaner slot works great. Lighter pouch is fine but not great as my lighter wanted to slip out after a little break in. Same deal but less severe with the Czech tool slots. Leather quality is great and all in all I'm very happy with the purchase.
Replacement Stems - Vulcanite Freehand Stem (for Nording)
Get it while you can
I'm giving this 5 stars because this particular stem is perfect. I will note however that I bought two of these vulcanite stems and was sent one plus one nording acrylic. Double check your orders fellow pipe bros!
Samuel Gawith - Fire Dance Flake 50g
Meh
First couple of smokes I just folded the flake and stuffed. Had burn issues. Will rub out and let air next bowl. Berry comes through but didn't overwhelm which I appreciate. As an automatic it is pretty level and won't ghost your pipe like some **cough cough Autumn Evening**
Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening 2oz
Don't break in a pipe with this!
Everyone says it smells like pancakes and maple syrup. I get carmel and butterscotch. It's a decent blend. Tin note is very strong but the smoke is much more mellow. I tried it as a first smoke in a new pipe and that was a mistake. The pipe was instantly ghosted. I recommend smoking this in a seasoned aro pipe.
Cascadia - Trail Head 1.76oz
Flavorful and fruity
Medium bodied but flavorful. Notes of slightly tart fruit. A pinch of spice, especially on retro. Very dense plug. I let it air out for a good 10 min after rubbing out.
Cascadia - Vertical Limit 1.76oz
Strong!
Surprisingly strong. Starts out with a light floral note with a very nice building sweetness and tang I wasn't expecting. Nicotine really came on in the second half. I smoked a bit too fast and got a little bitterness at the end but I blame that on my enthusiasm. I found it pretty moist so gave it a good 10 min after rubbing out and it burned perfectly.
Cornell & Diehl - Jolly Old Saint Nicholas 2oz
Very nice and not what I expected
I purchased this without really reading the notes so was expecting a more traditional Christmas kind of topping (baking spices, ginger, etc) so the citrus and ginger tin note really through me off. After lighting up I was pleasantly surprised at the complexity and ever increasing citrus notes as the bowl progressed. I immediately bought another tin to see if it'll improve with age since I won't be putting this down anytime soon.
Cornell & Diehl - Nutty Irishman 2oz
Lovely aromatic
Tin note is very strong of hazelnut and what I interpret as butterscotch. Smoke itself is milder with a nice nutty creamy flavor. Nice room note.
Cornell & Diehl - Silent Spire 2oz
Slow start but good finish
At first I didn't get much of anything other than savory tobacco out of this blend but towards the second half of the bowl some nice lightly sweet molasses and rum in the background. Smoke slowly or it'll start to get sour. Overall a pleasant smoke. I'll leave this plug to age a while but will pick up another if it becomes available and smoke more fresh. Community note: PLEASE STOP LEAVING POOR REVIEWS DUE TO STOCKING ISSUES. Being in stock has no bearing on the quality of the smoke which is what we are supposed to be reviewing!
BriarWorks - Sweet Tea 2oz
Nice mildly sweet aromatic
Tastes like mildly sweetened tea. Nice room note. Tin note is not overwhelmingly strong like a lot of aromatics. Decent nicotine hit but nothing overwhelming. I'll buy it again!
