Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning 2oz
What a Surprise... Worth a Try!
I bought ten C&D blends I hadn't had before to try out. This one was definitely the biggest surprise. I wouldn't have thought I would like it this much. I knew right away. I immediately ordered more. This is really, really good. I normally like both English blends and aromatics. This is so different. The first puff won't impress you. Give it a chance, you will taste the perique, especially on the exhale, if you let the smoke drift out of your mouth and take in a bit through your nose... amazing. It instantly became my morning routine. If you're a fan of English or Aromatics and want to try something new... this is extremely satisfying.

Cornell & Diehl - London Squire
Phenomenal!
I was enjoying GL Pease Quiet Nights, and (the now defunct) Hearth and Home Blackhouse, which are both good (and highly rated), but I think this blend at least equals (and perhaps surpasses) both. It does what they were trying to do, but maybe does it better. It's Balkan-esque (it has black cavendish and burley instead of Virginia, so it's not a "true" English blend) but is so rich and deep that it can't fail to satisfy. By the way, it DOES have Orientals. I'm reordering immediately.

    Concerning Codgers
  • ► I started pipe smoking 40 years ago, but not with codger blends -- it was working at a Tinder Box shop. We called codger blends "drugstore tobacco", and we did not sell them. We did sell some house blends that would satisfy the codgers though, like Blends No. 1, No. 2, No. 19, etc. which were cube-cut burley-based.
    Pipe Cleaner Woes
  • ► I recalled having two of these items in the past - about 40 years ago - and regretfully knowing that I've lost them years ago. One was Ascorti branded, made of soft suede, and the other was made of eelskin. It's a shame we don't take more care of things in our youth.
    Scarecrow
