About This Pipe Tobacco
This Balkan style blend would have been all-the-rage in the London Squire's country home in the 19th century. Cornell & Diehl's hearty Latakia base blended with Burleys, Virginias, and unsweetened Black Cavendish for body create a sublime late afternoon or evening smoke.

I knew the second I unzipped the 1 oz bag I was holding a banger. The aroma literally flew up out of the bag, punched me in the face and said “Hey HP - hope you are ready for this.”
I’m going to review this backwards.
My rating : 5 - and I have already ordered a pound.
How good is this ? Just copying my notes from yesterday I had to stop and go get another bowl because writing about it made me want it RIGHT NOW. Hell, I’m on my second bowl as I type this, in the dark, at 5:38 AM. That freaking good.
How good is this? I did something I haven’t done in a review so far - I literally messaged Ryan Moore and asked had he ever had it - and declared it “delicious AF”. That freaking good.
So let’s travel back …
Three bowls ? Ha. Too many to count but took notes for three.
Simply put it is a Latakia masterpiece of a Balkan that keeps things in line and nowhere goes out of bounds. Iodine ? Like sipping Laphroaig neat. Smokey? Like being just close enough to a campfire that the bugs don’t bite but the smoke tickles your eyes. Spice? Like Salma Hayek in Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
It really remind me of NightCap - more specifically of a particular moment with Night so where all of a sudden I “got it” and understood why people liked it.
Transformative. That’s a good word here.
The oily grey smoke letarly makes me salivate. It’s the pipe tobacco version of setting down to a 20 ounce porterhouse , with Caymus beside , knowing there’s some Glenmorangie 18 waiting on the porch beside your glider chair.
A thought I had that’s weird but makes sense to me - it’s like smoking a really nice leather purse.
And you can push it for fun if you want. Freight train your ass away - it’s just gonna get spicer and meaner - but sometimes it feels good to hurt a little.
If C&D were able to offer a bespoke labeling program, I’d order 25 tins with this labeled “HP’s Blend”.
This will be getting serious rotation from me. Great way to stretch out my reserves of balkans, by letting this be my daily driver and taking the harder to find stuff out on the weekends.
But I may not want to - I may just want to puff this all the time.
What I’m saying here is - if you like Latikia, if you like smoke , if you like scotch, if you like your Hallmark movies sweet but your pipe tobacco tough - this is one you may want to try.
