About This Pipe Tobacco
When Dunhill announced it would no longer be producing tobacco, pipe smokers rued the loss of some of their favorite mixtures. Thanks to Peterson, however, those beloved blends are still available. They're the same recipes and feature the same tin art as Dunhill's, just re-branded for Peterson.
My Mixture 965 is for connoisseurs of full-bodied English blends. Choice Latakia imparts a rich, smoky flavor and coolness, while Orientals are added for sweetness and spice. It's one of Dunhill's most popular English mixtures, now offered here from Peterson.

There are only two types of people when it comes to 965. There are people who say it is the best English or Scottish tobacco, and people who have never tried 965.

for 2 months, it got so much better. The flavors melded and deepened, sweeter and more spiced. I recommend letting her sit for a couple months in a jar or what have you. It’s good out the tin don’t get me wrong but after those two months it’s giving in my rotation 24/7, 365....Read More

round but that's about it. Its not sweet to me but I don't get sweetness in alot of blends that people say are sweet so take that for what it's worth (which isn't much). I'll update later as i make my way through the tin but as of this moment my thought is that there are equally good Englishes out there that don't cost as much....Read More

Enjoyable blend despite latakia

BBQ joint, a good one. Mild vinegar, woody, dirt, its very rich.
Tasting notes: First light and puffs are pungent, but don't let that throw you off. It really calms and mellows out. I'm pleased the latakia isn't as strongly evident, you can get a little bit of the whole mixture. I'm reaching for flavor description, can't quite put my finger on it. The smoky woodiness is still there, but fainter. There's almost an unsweetend citrus mixed with bread quality that's really smooth and enjoyable.
I think this is a great blend for exploring latakia without overwhelm. Its well balanced and smooth once you get into the bowl....Read More
