最酣畅淋漓的英式调配，这是和传统英式有所区别的风格，通过把拉塔基的风味淋漓尽致的发挥，表现出了一种狂傲不羁的粗放，但是与CD，sutliff不同的是这款调配一定是经过陈化的，没有其他美式草的杂味，主线非常清晰，就是让人心驰神往拉塔基的。用喷砂撞球抽着这款草，不同于西敏寺，艺匠，老都柏林，睡帽的沉静与绅士。它让我想起了大学在青海草原上打马扬鞭的岁月，也许这就是美式烟草想带给人的体验吧。

When opened tobacco smells very smoky what threw me off was moisture was a +2 after storing/cellaring but a -2 when opened when arrived from post office. If a blend is hot the leaves feel dryer than they will be from the cellar. Back to the blend. Moisture is almost perfect now, jar note is AWESOME camp fire smoke, this blend is not as sweet as bbbb but has WAY better smoke flavor, can burn a bit warm if a clump of bright Virginia is smoked, orientals noticed on retrohale if puffed strong. Tasty waves of Cavendish and Latakia interplay with a strong note of fine turkish Samsun, with a bit of floral, spicy, nutty sweetness. The Virginia is much harder to detect but offers a touch of grassy citrus. A real meal but not overwhelming, its just right. The nic hit is mild, even in a large bowl. 4 stars for me. I enjoy this blend while walking my dog in the evenings, and it's a terrific companion because it doesn't need a lot of re-lightings, only tamping, to stay lit during our stroll around the neighborhood. I am comparing this mixture right now with a match mixture for Dunhill's My Mixture 965. One of them has to lose, but they're both really nice. I think I prefer the darker flavor and drier burning qualities of the Arango Balkan Supreme, but the fight ain't over yet. Read Less

hich I often get a sense of with intense Latakias. Tiny hint of wood, then some pretty very mild spice and nose tingle after stoking and tamping well. More spice less of the smooth Latakia back and forth as it goes along, with small detection of Virgina periodically in the retrohale. I really like this one.
A little more spice than Stokkebye Luxury English. Like it about the same, but a little more. Burns excellent, cool, no moisture left over, easily managed.

If you're on the fence, consider this a sweeter, smokier and more mellow White Knight, of which emphasizes Orientals. To me this is a thinner, lighter, less dark-flavored Star of The East, albeit with a smidgen more Orientals. Considerable sweetness with this one and much less tangy, musty, buttery, spicy Orientals. y wasabi is spicy not in the mouth but high up in the nose, just beneath the eyes — which, again, is one of the defining characteristics of oriental tobaccos. And it tends to take over the whole bouquet in this mixture. But, then again, that is pretty much exactly the definition of a Balkan: a latakia & Virginia blend that emphasizes the orientals over the latakia, using Virginia to activate the front of the tongue and add some sweetness, while the latakia is just there to support and emphasize the orientals. My one complaint is the cavendish. The cavendish used in this mixture is just all wrong for me. Combined with the orientals, including the very nice incensey Samsun, it comes off as very rough and sharp. One-sided. Unbalanced. Too much of a one-note chord. If you like your balkans rough, sharp, earthy, spicy, floral, then this one is for you. But for me it has too much cavendish competing with the Samsun. In a balkan, the cavendish is added to round out the palette and add a creamy, fuller mouthfeel. But you can do a very similar thing by adding burley, and I would like this one a lot more if they had used burley instead of cavendish. Good examples are Sutliff Balkan Sobranie 759 Match, Sutliff Crumble Kake English #1. These use burley instead of cavendish and I really like them. Hearth & Home’s Blackhouse uses both cavendish and burley, and gets great results too. Those three are my go-tos at the moment. So, Arango is very smokeable, but not a favorite. Read Less

This is similar to Nightcap with a few differences. There is no perique so the pepper that is in Nightcap is not present. This one also has Cavendish, but really in the background.
I like Nightcap but I think I enjoy this one more. It is very mellow. I do still get a bit of a rough edge on this but think it will smooth out with time. Read Less

way. Perhaps I’ve ruined my palate with “big” tobaccos, but this blend is TOO smooth and rounded for me. It’s like Vodka, distilled down into an ultra-smooth but bland tasting beverage. I’m most reminded of Chelsea Morning, which I passed over as well for being too mild. I keep waiting for the Latakia to poke its head out and say hello like an old friend, but it’s crickets here.

It was in a blend much like this, offered by Jost in St. Louis...can’t remember what they called it but there’s no mistaking the flavor and aroma. Still on my first bowl and I can tell it’s a winner on all counts. It’s hard to describe the overall aroma and flavor except to say you can tell it’s a Latakia blend. Very smooth rich smoke. Seems like an after dinner or evening relaxation smoke. I defaulted to a favorite Canadian pipe for this one as I’m used to the combination and it still works. Will it color the flavor of the pipe? Yes. Do I care? No. It’s a good flavor and it’s ghost isn’t pesky. I’ve gone through most of 2ounces in a week and really like this stuff. If this is what Balkans are all about, I think I like them. to me that it does lack that certain subtle sweetness & unique flavoring of the "Original" mixture that I tasted in each & every draw. It does possess some sweetness as the varied tobaccos begin to interact after about maybe one third of the way down through the smoking session & at the halfway point is when it really begins the melding process reaching a truly exhilarating Balkan flavor.
I guess this contains some Turkish Yenidje but couldn't tell for sure & If not, whatever Orientals used seemed to act as a fitting substitute. My one half pound bag arrived with the perfect moisture content, meaning that it required some drying to be at a proper smoking level. I think many so called Balkan blends are more English than Balkan due to a Latakia overload that detracts from the flavor of the Oriental, unsweetened Cavendish & other varietals. [OK, I bought a pound of this stuff based on what I've read here and other sites, and you are all right! This stuff is great! Who to hell is Arango?!? I love the dry, but fresh taste of this tobacco right out of the box! If you're looking for a true English (Balkan) this isn't it, but it has such a nice, full, round sweet taste. The Cavendish like sweetness plays such a nice background, but the Latakia rides right along. It really is well balanced! When you pop open the shipping box you're hit with that heavenly Latakia aroma, but when you stuff your pipe and put fire to it, you say; "wait a minute!" There is more here! Enjoy! No tongue bite with the Arango, just a little peppery tingle on the tongue, smoother than the Balkan Sasieni I recently consumed which was too sharp on the tongue for my taste.
