I look forward to getting home from the coffee shop (work) everyday and loading a bowl of this amazing blend. Usually loading several more before bedtime. As a Lat Lover this is my #1 blend and second is their Star of the East (ribbon or flake).

The smell from the tin is AMAZING and it smokes great every time...but the taste jist isnt there.

I'm very new to pipe tobacco so my pallette isnt as refined as many others will be but i just cant seem to get any flavor.

Seriously good. One I don’t plan on being out of. If you love Latakia don’t hesitate to get a full lbs. it’s exactly what I wanted. It reminds me of black coffee, Straightforward, bold, tasty. Great way to start and finish the day.

I have read some older piping books about Latakia being the big bad wolf of pipe tobaccos, but I really don’t think it’s like that at all. I mean, after all, our American sense of spiciness in foods have really changed since the 1960s. Probably we have moved beyond the idea that Latakia and Perique will make you puke if you smoke them straight as an exercise in taste sensativity. I think this is true. This blend has the campfire smokiness of Latakia (obviously), and the peppery spiciness of the incencesy Orientals (with Cayenne pepper and ginger). On the plus side, this blend lends itself to a wide variety of applications in which Latakia is the required element for sprucing up an otherwise dull blend and moving it toward an interesting English blend....Read More

I've smoked a bunch of this now and I just feel like it needs something more. I love the way it smells in the tin, but the flavor just feels a little thin to me. It's just a lot of latakia. It's alright, but I don't think I'll pick it up too often. Might use it to blend into other tobaccos....Read More
