Rattray's: Bagpiper's Dream 100g Pipe Tobacco

I mean “poo poo” in a very good way. Yes. That’s what it is as far as the tobacco contents go. It’s a mixed bag of cuts of tobacco; ribbon, flake, medallion, etc. Personally, I like it. It’s different. It’s easier/best to smoke this in a larger bowl though. Given the melee of cuts, it may be difficult to get it packed into a small bowl properly without the top of the bowl looking like Medusa’s hair. As far as the tin note goes, I thought it smelled exceptionally great. It had a pleasantly different kind of smell I never encountered before in a tobacco. It probably had something to do with the Cognac. And the taste, I would rank it as very good to very very good! It wasn’t overly sweet. I would call it a no-nonsense, down to earth tobacco.....with an added touch. I sensed some bitterness on the back of my tongue on top and on both sides. Not complaining at all. In a way it was more on the “tangy” side rather than bitter. That might be the Cognac as well. Not sure. Never smoked tobacco with Cognac in it before. All in all, I liked it a lot. It was different. Smells great but i can't even get this one lit without getting tongue bite immediately. And left with an ash taste in my mouth...i'll let it jar for a bit but for now this one is not good at all.

I enjoy this aro; the cognac is firmly present but tastes natural (i.e. not artificial like some toppings). It's in my regular rotation and I stock up on it now. Interestingly, it consistently draws compliments from others.

There is a reason this is currently 'sold out'. Most times after I smoke a bowl of something, I'm content and move on to the next smoke...not this! The more I smoke this blend, the more I want. "lightly top dressed" ??? No. This has a heavy sweetness. Just too much cognac and black cavendish.

An excellent aromatic with a marked departure from American aros. The cognac is a prominent fruity flavor that I can only describe as 'tasting the smell'. It's not something you taste on the tongue but rather taste through the smell... odd, I know. It supports rather than overpowers the mixture of fine tobaccos, which are bright and sugary. A really smooth smoke with no bite. I think everyone should try this once so that they can experience what a true aromatic should be by comparison to the overly topped American aromatics. The best way to describe it is fresh baked raisin bread. I can see why this is many peoples favorite aromatic.

A very well done aromatic. I don't smoke a lot of them. I reserve this for the holidays. Has a hint of cherry to me.

There are few aromatics that get it right and this is certainly one of them. Aside from the fact that I can barely get my hand in the can, lol, everything else about this aromatic is an absolute delight. The cognac topping is exquisitely done. Not too heavy, not too light. Just right. But, of course, the blend wouldn't stand out anyway if it weren't for the great use of top grade tobaccos. There are some very good Virginia tobaccos in this blend, along with black Cavendish, obviously, and it shows. It burns well when you give it proper drying time and it does well at what an aromatic is supposed to do well at.
