erspective here's a list of some others I've had: Captain Black Royal, Lane 1Q, Mac Baren Vanilla Cream, C'est La Vie, and Sutliff's own 1M. All good vanilla blends, sure, but Vanilla Custard ramps things up a notch. Tin note: vanilla (from across the room), color of ribbon: vanilla (a nice golden brown), taste: vanilla and then some! Vanilla Custard is aptly named. You're not just getting a generic vanilla taste, you get the whole taste of a rich creamy dessert akin to, well, Custard. Think vanilla gelato, or pudding...maybe even a slight eggnog flavor (nutmeg?). Creamy and rich all around. As for it's smoking properties I have to say it fairs far better than many aromatics. It has strong flavor but it is not artificial tasting vanilla. It has a consistent flavor that weakens, but never quite goes away throughout the bowl. It is somewhat moist but doesn't turn to steam the minute you put a match to it like so many others. It will leave your bowl with a bit of moisture and I can't warn you enough how this will ghost even a cob. And, as you would expect, with a flavoring like this you wont get much natural tobacco flavors. This is a Cavendish for when you want pure vanilla flavor and a room note to match! Enjoy. Read Less

e 8 ounces in to this 16 oz. bag, I conclude that the lit flavor is pretty good; that is, as the smoke connects with the tastebuds.
The aroma from the bag is horrible.
The aroma as it hangs in the air (the smoke), also horrible.
Handling of this tobacco instantly stains your fingers and leaves the them feeling like they've been dipped in Molasses.
Separating myself from the noted negatives, I have to admit that the Taste is pretty good. Put another way, I'm over my inclination to throw in the towel and buy a carton of Camel Filters—an obsessive thought, which plagued me during the first week of this smoke.
Thankfully, I see that my old standby, Peter Stokkebye Vanilla Creme is once again, IN STOCK. I should have known when noting the word, CUSTARD, in the blend name, that this would not end well. Read Less

packing it loose to medium loose is best. Retrohaling, as if you were smoking a cigar helps pull out the flavour, which is pretty good for a tobacco flavour. oisture,and only requires a little drying time before loosely packing..a slow smoke reveals toasty,slightly sour,buttery goodness...no nic hit is noticeable,and the room note is excellent,light,non lingering,and spouse approved...a very good choice for a smoke that is absolutely aromatic..I can just make out the VA tobacco giving a little tang in the last half of the bowl...to me it's not chemical or unpleasant in any way...this is a good starter smoke for newbies,and other pipers once the art of slow sipping is better managed...gives a long smoke...maybe because of the moisture or topping,but a good,solid,medium bodied vanilla aro.

cal flavor, although I have no idea if this is a natural flavor base. I will most likely cut this with some Nutty Irishman to lower the sweetness. It's not bad. Tastes like wedding cake, butter frosting. Surprisingly it did not goo up the pipe, burned clean and stayed lit after a few relights. After smoking a bit of this I upgraded it to a 4. I have been mixing it with Nutty Irishman, which is a Burley base. This cuts the sweetness and mixes very well with the natural flavors in Nutty Irishman. This is an outstanding after dinner blend. My daughter convinced me I had to try this. She loved the smell. I was afraid I wouldn’t enjoy it but I’m glad I was wrong. Smoked cool and no bite. I didn’t have to relight at all. Room note was pleasant. It was enjoyable and I recommend it.
