About This Pipe Tobacco

A smooth, pure, British-style blend of Virginia tobaccos, Three Sails from Daughters & Ryan uses specially-selected, flue-cured gold leaf tobaccos and an ultra-fine cut to produce a pleasing smoke and presentation alike. With a mellow, easy-smoking profile and a fairly quick burn time, this blend would make for an excellent roll-your-own option, blending component, and would be great smoked by itself as well.

Love the smell and the taste. Don't care for the shaggy cut, but not counting that in my rating. This actually brought back a memory from a trip to England. A field of barley had just been harvested and this reminds me so much of the scent drifting from that freshly cut field!

Tip for my Chinese Brothers

This tobacco is like a blank canvas for making you own tasty mild aromatic.
I use fresh sambac jasmine buds to hydrate this tobacco to make rolling easier. Sometimes some corsican mint for menthol. It makes the smoke hit smooth with nice body.

I'd imagine doing this with osmanthus, apricot flowers, or Michaelia Champaca would be delicious. Osmanthus is going to be my next experiment....Read More

I smoked Windsail Platinum for many years - until earlier this year when I found bird feathers buried inside the tobacco inside the bag. I doubt that batch came out of a hogshead, so I called ICT to complain in the hopes their Quality Control would fix the problem for me, but I was only promised a replacement I didn't receive. D&R is just the old label now I guess. Regardless, Three Sails is basically the same tobacco but in shag-cut form, so I'll assume it's processed at a different location from Windsail and that it won't contain any trash. I like shag cut tobacco. I pack it tight and smoke at a slow to moderate pace. The slower one goes, the more rewarding the smoke with this tobacco. I smoke it daily. When my palate becomes labored this stuff is a good cleanser. It is a basic no frills solid smoke and over time I have come to appreciate what it has to offer. Been smoking this for Years!. It is dry, BUT, I add slices of Orange Peel when i first open the bag. Shake it up and let it sit sealed for a day-ish.... good thing is... if it gets too moist, i can let it sit with the bag open until i get it just right....
