enses tell me it's rosewater. Once you get a feel for packing the shag cut, you'll find it burns evenly and easily to a fine white ash. While it's not as strongly flavored or complex as many GH favorites such as their flakes and ropes, most tobacco enthusiasts would probably be okay with this in their pipe. It's smooth, there's no bite, and it's not terribly high in nicotine (4/10). As with many blends, these characteristics improve with age, although the Lakeland essence is all but gone from mine by now. The room note wont make you any friends, but the pipe's for you, not them. With all of that said, Kendall Gold is fine stuff, and I like it in a little narrow-chambered cob in the morning. Read Less

I enjoy this stuff during the day throughout the warmer months. It's light and refreshing, and smokes great in my MM and Old Dominion cobs. It isn't particularly complex, but the hay and tea notes are great for times when you want something simple.

u receive a decent amount of flavour for your puff. Although it does burn slightly hot compared to other G&H shags, it doesn’t bite. I'm strictly into Virginia on its own, with no extra flavorings or blended with a pinch of perique tobacco.
I use it to mimic American Spirit Perique in RYO (rolling papers or filtered tubes). Well worth the money for this beautiful tobacco. When used in a pipe, i tend to add a bit more perique for a more robust flavor and taste.

a cigarette, I grab a paper and roll one. In the nose it is typical pure Virginia, grassy, straw like, with some nutty undertones. In the pipe if you keep your smoking pace slow, barely burning it deepens slightly during a bowl and the nuttiness becomes more noticeable. Very smooth and mild, the nicotine is there just enough to satisfy. This is a very subtle tobacco, give it time and you may find it very rewarding, expect big flavors immediately you may be disappointed. I do not think you can make this bite, even if you are trying. ike the fine cut, it burns very evenly and is easy to get lit and keep it going. I smoked it a few times out of several different pipes and didn't notice the offensive aftertaste as much right away but upon trying it in a new perfectly clean pipe is was like boom with the soap taste. I experimented a bit more and just came to the conclusion this tobacco has a little bit of soapy taste to it I didn't care for. I had to smoke several bowls of something else to get the ghost out of my pipes too. I was really disappointed and doubt I'll try anything else from this company. Update: I still don't really like this but I was very wrong to assume this represented the quality and flavor of other fine tobacco's I've grown to love from this company. The soapy taste I get from this one blend is nothing like the lovely Lakeland essences I've found in so many of their other blends. Go figure I'd try one of the very few they make I don't like on the first try.
The only other tobacco I ever smelled that had this aroma was a tin of C&D Organic Pipe Dreams that was not at all to my liking and made me feel really sick from smoking like ten years ago that time they tried that. I think they pretty quickly discontinued that blend because the organic method of preserving was having a problem with working correctly and I had one of the early tins that went funky. So my point is maybe this kendal was a small sample that was going bad or not what it should have been in hindsight, I have had other manufacturers have a bad day or batch on rare occasion also so I will give another chance in light of their total line of quality tobaccos at some point. I will try to order 1 oz again soon just for my own satisfaction and the joy of hoping it was a fluke. I will update. Read Less
