If you plan to buy this because you think it’s what JRR Tolkien smoked then don’t. It is a completely different blend and STG is just capitalizing on your nostalgia to overcharge for this otherwise average blend.

This blend is still decent and likely really good with age. That being said, it has lost some leaf quality over the last 5 years. The nail in the coffin is the price. Absolutely ridiculous. It is true that J. R. R. Tolkien smoked a pipe tobacco blend called Capstan Blue. This is NOT that blend. This is a cheap knockoff put out by STG which they then overcharge for. $25 for 1.75 oz of bad Virginia?! Don't be fooled by STG. Go buy a different, cheaper, and better VA blend.

This blend is an amazing classic for a reason. I taste notes of toast and sun-dried tomatoes. It’s a medium-bodied smoke as well. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
