Amazing stuff! been around forever for a reason I never got to try the original with perique so can’t compare them but this is one of my old reliable blends that every time I smoke it I’m happy I did and never disappoints, a classic. 5 STARS 🔥
The strength and taste levels were medium.

Burns clean, moderately cool, and a tad slow. In the case of Three Nuns I think I can honestly say I finally understand what people mean when they talk about the natural sweetness of Virginia.

Prominent Dark Fired Kentucky, which I am a huge fan of. I know this is not the original blend, however I love perique as well so I imagine my review would remain much the same but praising the perique as opposed to the DFK. Regardless, minimal relights with no issues through the entire bowl. Perfect for a cool summer evening!...Read More

This is my second pipe blend I’ve tried, but I have been a cigar smoker for 2 years since I was 21. The blend has a forward taste of smoky barbecue with supporting flavors of figs and citrus, almost like an orange zest. My wife says it smells like a sweet barbecue as well, not as stinky as my cigars. Strength wise I would put it at medium as well as the taste. If this blend was half the cost, I would say it would be an excellent every day smoker. But none the less, it is worth having a tin or two and smoking it is a treat. Perhaps a good tobacco to smoke after Church in the early to mid afternoon on Sundays....Read More

This version seems to be a solid blend from the start. Perfect moisture out the tin. Definitely a clove topping, lighter than Peter Heinrich Curley special with a bit of dark fired to give it a bit of complexity.

This tobacco is much better enjoyed in a larger sized bowl. When first tried in a rattray's outlaw, it was nowhere near as good as a larger billiard pipe. Woodsy and delicious.

I have tried to like straight Virginia or primarily Virginia blends for a long time. Never could. Then I met this blend. The dark fired adds the perfect match for the varied virginias. One of my main squeezes.

This is a pre-rating, as I have not tried it. My comment goes to the pricing, which is keeping me away. It needs to come down. Not talking sales either, the regular pricing. You’re being made to pay for the legendary name with this, it’s obviously. If it was a pre-aged version or something I could see the pricing, but not standard issue. Ridiculous. Hopefully someone gets the word and makes it happen, but not likely I imagine. Even sale pricing is too high. I could see 15 and change for a regular pricing, but not going over that. Too rich for my blood, and don’t even know if I’ll like it....Read More

I purchased this tobacco because I had heard that C.S. Lewis had smoked it and hoped that it would inspire my writing the way it did his. All though I haven't written my magnum opus yet, I can say that this is one hell of a blend. Just the spicy tin note alone sends me to cloud nine. The spice really comes through for me and gives it a divine after-taste on exhale. The tobacco is easy to roll or tear and pack and has offered a very consistent smoking experience. In my opinion, the experience reaches its full potential about two-thirds into the smoke.
If you're a new or experienced smoker, you should really give this a try....Read More
