A historic pipe manufacturer, Charatan was established in 1863 when Frederick Charatan began carving meerschaum pipes at his London shop. The brand eventually gained recognition as among the most prestigious pipe makers in England, with production supervised by the Charatan family until 1960, and even today, Charatan pipes are sought after on the estate market by collectors worldwide.

This is a solid English blend worthy of notice. In world devoid of the great McClelland English blends, and dominated by ubiquitous STG, Johnny One Note tobacco. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I don't know why I waited so long to try it. A big thanks to TOR for making it available to the North American market. Tin note of mild smokey, mild sour, and sweet spiced dark fruit. Tobacco is mostly an orangish tan and brown, with a little black and dark brown mixed in. The cut is a mix of ribbon and a small rough cut. Tobacco is on the dry side, no prep needed. Burns moderately with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is mild to medium and consistent, with notes of wood, very mild sweet dark fruit, herbal spices, very bready, moderately spicy, earth, leather, mildly smoky, a lemon grass background note, and a peppery retro. Oriental/Turkish is leading with Virginia trying support, Latakia got lost somewhere. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is good....Read More

This tobacco has quickly been a go to in my rotation, I enjoy it in the morning with my coffee and I find that it's a great smoke from first light to mid smoke and until the end.If your a fan of classic English blends then I would suggest you add this to your rotation.
