Special Reserve is, *for me*, the best of all the Plum Pudding blends, the most "plummy". Perique stands out, leading the show (source of the "plum" notes), followed by orientals and latakia. It's a very sour and spicy blend. Its smokiness is subdued. Virginia closes the show with its bready warmth.

There's something about the Lankford west-coast style that does not appeal to me. It is immediately recognizable as such, which is brilliant as a marketing strategy. Many will be turned off by it but those who enjoy it will be hooked, unable to find it in other blends from any other blender. It is a recipe for a loyal following....Read More

After cellaring this blend for 9 months, the sweetness and plum notes really came alive, with a peppery smoky finish. This blend is complex in the best conceivable way. I can’t put it down.

One of the first English blends that I've tried this is still one that I keep coming back to. Upon opening the tin I was instantly hit with a sweet plum and almost raisin scent. Hands down the best tin note that I've smelled so far. On the first light I was hooked with the Virginia and perique coming forward followed by the Latakia on the tail end.
