I have always felt good sitting with this tobacco and that is the most important thing that anyone or anything can offer. This is a blend that is comforting no matter the season and leaves me with a feeling of contentment, like a favorite old sweate... Read More

Granger and I go back over 50 years, but for a long time I kind of forgot about it. A few weeks ago, I rediscovered it and and, lately, it's pretty much all I've been smoking. In fact, I'm now stockpiling it. I just ordered 4 more tubs. I'm an all da... Read More
y smoker. I'm not retired but, fortunately, I'm in a job where I can light up whenever I feel like it. I light up with my morning coffee and I pretty much stay lit all day. Yeah, I still got pounds of latakia and Navy flake blends socked away and I smoke those. But now they're more like reserved for the end of the day. The final smoke, so to speak. I've gotten on these single blend kicks before and sometimes they go on for weeks and sometimes they've gone on for years. So, we'll see how this goes. Read Less
Like an Older Prince Albert

Product: Granger Granger 7oz
Granger reminds me of two other tobaccos: The old Prince Albert (1930's version) and Sutliff Great Outdoors. It's practically a dead-ringer for the latter, yet is a shade more harsh and lacks the birch root. I recently popped a 1936 tin of Prince ... Read More
Albert. It was strong anise, cocoa and a touch of bourbon... nothing like the PA today. The cocoa in the old PA was a very pure flavor - similar to tasting the ground cocoa powder used in cooking. Well, Granger tastes very similar to the old PA; strong anise and pure cocoa. The bourbon's not present in this, but the anise and cocoa are strong. Like the 1936 PA, the PH of Granger is a little on the alkaline side, so it does tingle a bit, but not so great as to bite the tongue. A good all-day tobacco with a touch of nicotine. The nic level is 1.5 - 2 out of 5, so it won't make you nauseous yet will gently sate any cravings. Read Less

I just purchased this and received it 2 weeks ago. I overlooked this tobacco for a long time. Recently while reading up on codger blends, Granger came up again and had very pleasant reviews. Let me get this out of the way, I love burley tobacco. If y... Read More
ou don’t like burley, stay away because this is Burley! It was oddly familiar and comforting when firing up my first bowl. How could it me familiar without ever having smoked it? It’s warm and inviting, The burley is nutty, mild cocoa, hearty, and lightly sweet. The anise topping provides some sweetness but by no means does it give off a licorice flavor. A lot of folks compare this to PA, but I beg to differ. Yes it’s burley, yes it has a good flavor, and yes their is a mild sweetness, but Granger is better. There I said it. It’s flavor is more full bodied and deeper. Granger is smooth, without even the slightest bit of harshness. PA to me is harsh and it took me a long time to be able to appreciate it. Granger was enjoyable at first light. Nicotine is mild, flavor is medium, enjoyment is high. If your looking for a no fuss, comforting bowl of burley that you could smoke all day, this is it. I have been smoking Sir Walter Raleigh every morning with my coffee for 2 years now. Granger just took that spot. Sure there are better tobaccos out there. This isn’t Solani Aged Burley Flake, nor is is some other overhyped blend that you overpay for. Granger is priced affordable, tastes great, burns down to ash with just barely any dottle, smokes very smooth with zero bite. Give it a try and you’ll see why it’s been around for as long as it has.
If the customer service department reads these reviews (I doubt it), you should know that these 8oz cans stink. Mine popped the seal in shipping and spilled tobacco all over inside the box. Luckily I ordered a lot and the other tins held everything in place so I only lost about a 1/4 ounce, but maybe a little cellophane or something could prevent this. Read Less

I never tried this tobacco because I did not want to invest in a 12 oz tin. Now the 7 oz was designed and the cost is more affordable. Great tobacco. Smooth, no bite, great everyday blend.
Great idea
I stopped even looking at American Burley tobaccos

And so the next new tobacco for me. I confess immediately after the trials of Prince Albert, Velvet, Carter Hall, I stopped even looking at American Burley tobaccos. Not mine! But somehow I came across an article about Jung and he was a very big fan ... Read More
of Granger Regular. And it turned out that this tobacco differs very favorably in taste from those listed above. The nutty flavor is excellent. The tobacco is full and not very strong (between light and close to medium), good for large pipe bowls.
Not much sweet with real tobacco taste and it's rich.
Will bite the tongue if the tobacco is damp and at a fast pace of smoking.
In conclusion, out of 10 points, I would give him 7-8 points no less and I will definitely return to him. Read Less
