Best codger blend ever!

I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to try this blend. I’m aware that Scandinavian tobacco group has made some subtle changes from the original product but I believe they are probably good changes. The tin note on this is nearly all tobacco with a very faint sweetness, maybe cocoa and anise. Flavor wise this is a well-behaved nutty Burley with a subtle brown sugar sweetness undertone. It took a light very well and stays lit. Nicotine somewhere between mild and medium. There’s enough there to notice and I have a pretty high tolerance, but not a nicotine bomb like dark fired or old Joe Krantz. I’ve tried other OTC blends and found most of them wanting in vitamin N, Granger is the exception to the rule. It’s a very satisfying blend that I believe will probably be a daily smoke for me. Room note is not sweet, but not offensive either. The thing I’m most impressed with is this is one of the only tobaccos that taste the same at the bottom of the bowl as it does at the first light. For me this is the best of the codgers. i like it more than Prince Albert, Carter Hall, Velvet, Half and Half, and certainly more than Sour Walter Raleigh which used to be my favorite but is now unsmokable. I bought a can and it came the perfect moisture level. easy to pack, easy to light. I didn't get any tongue bite at all. There is a nice burley flavor with a bit of stewed fruit in the background. the burleys are not tannic or bitter at all. nice and mellow but still has tobacco flavor. I'll have to stock up a few cans of this in the hopes STG doesn't ruin this blend like they have so many others....Read More

A great nutty Burley

I really like this. I’ve been smoking pipes for around 9 years and this is the first time I’ve tried Granger. My palate isn’t as “refined” as other’s but in my opinion it’s a great, simple, mild-nutty Burley. I believe that it would be a great tobacco for a beginner and veteran alike. Not much to think about either, just put it in your bowl and smoke it. A true “all-day smoke”. My only wish is that they would package it in smaller sizes but I’m fine with the 7oz can. Another codger blend that does its one-dimensional job well. Nutty with very light brown sugar notes. Nothing fancy but not trying to be. This blend can bite but only if really pushed. I've found this blend to go best with coffee on a cool morning.
