Product: Granger Granger 7oz
Granger is simple and straightforward. If you like mild burley mixed with a sugar casing (maybe brown sugar?) and mild sweet topping you will enjoy this. My score: 4 My scale: 1-2.5 - bad 3 - not worth buying 3.5 - I would give it a try 4 - it’s worth buying and re-buying on occasion 4.5-5 - it is worth buying in bulk quantities and cellaring deep...Read More
Sweet hot funk

I am sure people like this, but I just can't. After 10 minutes the smoke started to bite my tongue and there was a lot of moisture in the bowl. The flavor is sweet funk. I will stick with Carter Hall, ERR match, and PS41.
Solid, steady, dependable

I can always count on Granger to deliver. May be a codger blend, but there is a reason it's still around. Just a no nonsense, good burley blend.

I love Prince Albert and smoke it regularly. I've been reading raving reviews about Granger for quite a long time but never tried it until recently. I really like the cut and the way it packs and enjoy it very much. I will keep several cans in my cellar, but it does not replace Prince Albert for me....Read More

I think this blend and me need to put our diffences aside and move on lol , i got a tub of some granger and i want to love it soo bad, but heres the thing for me , no matter what i do this blend SCORCHES my tongue, no matter how slow i smoke it, ove tried drying it to a bone, rubbing it out dang near everything you could do to mellow a blend out, but my mouth PH just aint having it, shame becaues this really is a nice blend i LOVE the tast and smell and nic but, i cant smoke it cause its hurts my mouth to much, not for me, plenty of other blends i enjoy with a great taste and smell to burn my mouth out on lol , even carter hall doesnt scorch my mouth like this, weird because i enjoy other STG blends such as smokers pride cherry and some otheres, oh well, if anyone wants to trade somethin for a almost full tub o granger! Ill be here lol , but dont let my review stop you from trying, ive heard plenty of others that LOVE this stuff, so its just body chemistry thats all...Read More

I enjoy the flavor Granger after eating a good meal like breakfast or dinner. The flavor lasts to the bottom of the bowl. A nice slow smoker - spicy if one over puffs. A nice "codger" blend that has stood the test of time.

This tobacco is not the same thing it was in the 70s, sadly. No idea who they think they are kidding. Seriously.
Better when dried a bit.

I am new to piping, at just 1.5 months in. So I've been collecting numerous blends in that time...many I desire to age a good bit. So with that I picked up several 'Ball' qt.-size latch-lock jars for transferring tubs of OTC Codger blends I plan to smoke while giving the others time in a bottle. I have Granger_Carter Hall_ Velvet_Paladin in those latch jars now. Granger is currently my second favorite of those; second to Carter Hall. But I am still learning...and have discovered Granger, as with many other blends, is better when I spread some out to dry. Nearly to being crispy. It changes from having a bit much of a citrus tang to it, and minor 'bite,' to being a warm tasty treat with fantastic plumes and clouds. Carter Hall is one I will add more of to my collection...and if Granger gets added as well, then I will likely edit this to up it to a two or four star recruit. *Update* I am reducing my 3.5 to 3.0 stars and am currently leaning toward reducing 2.0 stars if I find Granger, after 7oz's, not enjoyable enough to consider buying it again. I must say that S.T.G.'s acquisition of all these OTC/Codger blends, are not doing them any favors. The S.T.G. is certainly not concerned enough for maintaining the quality of these blends they now own....Read More

Granger and I go back over 50 years, but for a long time I kind of forgot about it. A few weeks ago, I rediscovered it and and, lately, it's pretty much all I've been smoking. In fact, I'm now stockpiling it. I just ordered 4 more tubs. I'm an all day smoker. I'm not retired but, fortunately, I'm in a job where I can light up whenever I feel like it. I light up with my morning coffee and I pretty much stay lit all day. Yeah, I still got pounds of latakia and Navy flake blends socked away and I smoke those. But now they're more like reserved for the end of the day. The final smoke, so to speak. I've gotten on these single blend kicks before and sometimes they go on for weeks and sometimes they've gone on for years. So, we'll see how this goes....Read More

Among OTC burey codger blends Granger is one of the best, its been around for ages. It's a smooth nutty bascic burley. It burns a little fast but tastes great all the way down. The rough cut easliy gravity fills into any size bowl aand leaves almost no moisture in the heel. An easy reliable all day smoke....Read More
