Haunted Bookshop. Nutty burley paired with spicy Louisiana perique, and topped with a gentle underlying sweetness from the red virginias as the tobaccos dance with each other to create an absolutely wonderful blend perfect for midnight sipping.
Eat something before you smoke it. It's become my cardinal rule when smoking any blend, but I heavily recommend it with this blend.
It's sure to age perfectly in your cellar....Read More

"Haunted Bookshop" is an awesome name. Maybe too awesome? Everyone wants to smoke and enjoy something with a name like "Haunted Bookshop", right? Only problem is, not everyone is going to like Haunted Bookshop. This blend was not made for everyone. This blend was made for me, though.
Firstly, you have to KNOW that you're a burley lover. You have to know she can be a downright bitter bitch at times. You also have to know that it's usually our fault for bringing it out of her, and we deserve it...Ok, ok. I concede, it just might be that her baseline state of being is a little bit bitter and we just have to learn to love her on her own terms (which I do). This is not a blend for those merely trying to decide if they like burley based blends. Plenty of other more flavorful, less understated, and frankly easier to enjoy blends for that. This is for those of us who already have a taste for it. Perhaps best suited for those of us who smoke a lot. If you seldom smoke a pipe why not just stick to some deliciously bold English blend? What's better than that? As an aside, I've just recently gotten into them, and man oh man absolute fireworks for me. One couldn't possibly ever tire of a great English with infrequent consumption! Haunted Bookshop serves as a wonderful break from big flavors. This is for those of us looking for a more subtle, subdued flavor profile that will never fatigue the palate during extended or multiple smoke sessions. I've smoked three consecutive bowls of Haunted Bookshop out of the same Savinelli saxophone, with only a quick in-between stuff and swirl of the bowl with a sheet of paper towel. Yeah, what of it? I know that's some sort of cardinal sin, but don't judge my habits. I'm pulling every ounce of pleasure (and ONLY pleasure) out of the time I spend with my tobacco and pipes.
Of course there are exceptions to everything I have said and naturally all of this is my opinion and my account. I'm using absolutes and broad strokes.
Secondly, it's been mentioned that it is very "cigarette-like" in it's qualities. I have to agree, but not in a derogatory way. For those of you (like me) that have smoked many a dreadful pack of those dubiously manufactured, multinational conglomerate pre-rolled coffin nails, you will know all too well the difference between the wonderful smell of a freshly cracked pack and that horrid smog that they emit after being hit with a flame. Not even cigarette smokers like the smell of secondhand smoke. I would even venture to say most don't much care for that first-hand shit, either. Haunted Bookshop tastes like a fresh pack smells after removing the cellophane and putting your nose right up to the filters sticking up out of the pack. It tastes like a dry draw on a fresh unlit Camel or Marlboro. If you know, you know.
Lastly, it's just about the coolest and most bite free tobacco I've ever smoked. The smoke it produces is very light in body. Not thin, just light. It also perhaps may be the easiest to keep lit and most evenly burning blend I've ever tried. Even better than one of my all time favorites: the ubiquitous, forgiving, and gentle Prince Albert.
Even Prince Albert can be provoked into biting you, I'm not sure that Haunted Bookshop can.
I absolutely love Haunted Bookshop; however, Haunted Bookshop was made for me.
If you like burley, buy a tin and give it a try.
Smoking a few bowls of Haunted Bookshop throughout the day also has the added benefit of really making your favorite English light up your taste buds....Read More

Product: Cornell & Diehl Haunted Bookshop 2oz
Aged one year in jar. Smoked on Halloween out of Dracula 608. I believe this more suited for current and ex cigarette smokers who gravitate towards the familiar tastes of nutty, slight hay grass, and char ash. Honestly, as an ex cigarette smoker who doesn’t wish to be reminded I typically search for blends that have no burley in them whatsoever. That being said, this isn’t one that I will be buying again anytime soon. * If you are trying to change over to pipe from cigs this may be your entry point....Read More

Think of Haunted Bookshop as a boutique codger burley and you will get some idea of it. It's mostly burley, and it's a bitter, powerful, almost cigar like burley at that. Some people might be put off by how the strong, ashy, burley is almost reminiscent of cigarette tobacco. The rough and chunky little squares and ribbons of Haunted Bookshop, however, assure that this is a slow burner easily ladled into any size pipe...Read More

It lit well and smoked well but the taste was very basic and wouldn't be anything I would necessarily look forward to smoking again. Very inconsistent cut as well mostly ribbon with several large chucks of flake left in it.

Bought this after watching so many videos on YouTube and after realizing I liked burley. First time lighting it up, I didn’t see what the fuss was about. Not bad but no real taste to it either. Then, on a rainy Friday night, I tried it in the Friday Savinelli (Savinelli 673 KS) and wow! Amazing! I finally understood it. I loved that experience so much that I tried it again the next day, but in a different pipe. The taste: dirty cigarette. I couldn’t believe it. I had just had an amazing experience with it, and now it was disgusting. A few weeks later, I very hesitantly tried it again, but once more in the Savinelli 673…. AMAZING! So as the titles says, when it’s good it’s good. But when it’s off, it’ll range from eh to down right disgusting. Maybe user error, maybe this blend just likes being smoked in certain pipes. But that finicky-ness is what prevents me from eating it higher....Read More
