About This Pipe Tobacco

Reiner pipe tobaccos are all blended based on R.L. Will's historic recipes. Rudiger L. Will grew up in Germany and spent his formative years around his father's tobacco factory; he could often be found exploring the warehouse and naturally developed a keen sense for different types of tobaccos and their varying nuances. In the 1960s, Rudiger joined his father and managed tobacco production, eventually developing the flavor casings for Borkum Riff's first four blends. Over the subsequent decades, he furthered his mark on the pipe-smoking world, creating Reiner and Solani pipe tobaccos, as well as a line of handmade pipes alongside pipe maker Reiner Klein, branded as The Pipe Art Design.

A blend of the finest Virginia and Burley leaf and Black Cavendish, Reiner's Professional blend is first seasoned for weeks in oak whiskey barrels, naturally imparting a whiskey aroma to the tobaccos. It's, then, topped with notes of fruits and nuts for a delightfully complex Aromatic smoking experience.

Reiner Professional Mixture

Horrible! I thought I would like it because it is aged in whiskey barrels (or whatever). I prefer Kentucky bourbon over anything. I don't know if it's the hickory nuts or what, I just do NOT like the taste of this. I am a RMO cigarette smoker btw. I mixed a pouch of Missouri Meerschaum Malta with this which made it a little better, but I can still taste whatever it is in the Reiner that I don't like. I will add some of my American Club Red to make it more tolerable (sp?), to smoke. To me, CAO Moontrance is so much better!...Read More

Odd, this one. I like it? I’m still talking myself into this. Very unique stuff, to start off with. Almost like the smell of walking into bed, bath, and beyond. And I don’t mean that as a negative. It has an almost pot pourii smell to it. It comes in a very smart tin encasing a cellophane bag that has been taped closed. Not a ziplock or sealed bag, so that’s a definite minus. The cut is lovely and it burns to a very clean and very white ash. I smoked it nice and slow with no burn. A couple relights here and there, but nothing to write home about. My daughter loves the smell and the subsequent beard note, so that’s a plus. I really do like it, it’s just so unique that it kinda threw me a little. Sometimes I find that which I love immediately i tire from quickly, so my apprehension could be a good thing. In one week this might be my greatest of all time, I’m just not quite there yet. Still, I’ll definitely keep smoking if for no other reason a sense of profound intrigue. I’ve never tasted anything like this. Smokes great in a cob, by the way. Like just about every other blend I suspect...Read More

I don't usually smoke aromatics. That said, this is one I keep on hand. Not your average cherry(fruit), tongue bite special here. Much more sophisticated.
Different from what I expected

Let me start out by saying that this is an excellent tobacco. I was intrigued by the reviews for quite some time, but held off on ordering for a long time because I hate to buy 100 g of an expensive tobacco I have never tasted. But I finally relented. I was frankly expecting something very much on the sweet side. Don’t get me wrong. This is unquestionably an aromatic. However, unlike most aromatics, the toppings are not the stars of the show. You can really taste the characters of the underlying tobaccos; most predominantly the Burley. The flavors of the toppings, the whiskey, the vanilla, the fruits, and the nuts, etc. all play their roles, but their presence is more like delicate seasonings on a dish prepared by a gourmet chef. They are more apparent on the retrohale. This is not what I would consider an everyday smoke. I will come back to it occasionally and will probably even order some more when the beautiful tin this tobacco comes in is empty...Read More
5 Stars But Not For Me

Oh honey, talk about high-maintenance! Sure, it's super premium, burns to that fancy fine white ash, and leaves the room smelling like a dream—but honestly? I'm not looking for a pipe tobacco that demands I tiptoe around it. I'll finish off the tin (because mama didn't raise a quitter), but we're definitely not going on a second date. My smoking cadence and this blend simply don't vibe: it bites harder than my dog and burns hotter than gossip. Delicious? Absolutely—but only if you puff it S L O W enough to make a snail impatient!...Read More
