About This Pipe Tobacco
The most popular 'Latakia' blend in Europe, Scottish Mixture is comprised of Brazilian, Zimbabwe, and Malawi Virginia (53%) which are blended with Malawi Sun-cured (10%) and Malawi Burley (17%). The relatively high proportion of Burley helps to carry the special Virginia casing which sweetens and flavors the blend. To this blend is added a small proportion of Black Cavendish Dark fired (7.5%) to cool the smoke, and finally the Latakia (12.5%) The whole combination provides a very pleasant and easy to smoke tobacco with the background taste and aroma of Latakia.

is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and consistent, with notes smoky wood, light floral, earth, a spicy retro and a sporadic lightly sweet note. The various Viriginia's are leading, supported by burley and latakia, and the dark fired cavendish is playing hide and seek in the background. I love this stuff. More it cellars the better it gets. Ages so well. Its my go to bulk for my jar humidor I leave by my smoking chair. Great English with a nice light top note.

and. That blandness lends to mediocrity and nothing notable, which is what's occurred here. The burley lacks the molasses note we're accustomed to and the cavendish is used in too great a quantity. There's little sweetness, though the caramel nougat is in the background and is detected only when smoked cool. There's no grassiness from the VA... it's just a rather bland mixture. here's the thing: Every time I pull this out and smoke a little, the first 1/4 of the bowl I'm thinking: "I need to stock up on this stuff." Then, about half-way through, I'm thinking "why did I want to stock up on this, it's not that great?" It's like that every time.
