IPSD: Let's Show the World

Every year, we get one day, one glorious 24 hour span, specifically dedicated to this thing of ours. Every year, on February 20th, we observe our appreciation for tradition and camaraderie through International Pipe Smoking Day.
But where did it begin?
Well, simply put, IPSD began with you all. It was born from your passion, your enthusiasm, your drive to see our hobby become something so much more: a link to the past, to tradition, to our roots.
It was first observed on February 20th, 2008 and was organized by the vast pipe smoking community present on the forums. Since then, it's been supported by the CIPC, or Comité International of Pipe Clubs, and its sister branches such as the UPCA in the United States — currently spanning over 25 countries around the world.
Ever since, pipe communities around the globe have come together to create events and specials in observance of this holiday so uniquely ours. Historically, we've offered a site-wide discount of 10% on all products — a promotion we're launching today along with our regular update. This year we'd like to take it a step further and hear from you.
We understand that in today's environment, finding enough time to really sit down with your pipe and a bowl of your favorite blend is not as easy as it sounds. But for this IPSD, we encourage you to join in on the celebration. Simply take a picture smoking your favorite briar, meer, or clay, and share them on our Facebook page, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #SPCIPSD.
Let's teach the world about International Pipe Smoking Day. Let's show them that same passion, enthusiasm, and drive that started it all.
Let's show them what it means to be a pipe smoker.

What we really need is a NATIONAL Pipe Smokers Day, honoring AMERICAN pipe smokers, past and present. Local B&M shops could sponsor a half or full page ad in their local newspaper to get the word out to the General Public (not just pipe smokers). The ad should have pictures of famous American pipe smokers that people are familiar with: MacArthur, Twain, Einstein, Cronkite, Schwarzenegger, et.al. The day should be strategically set for a Saturday in late October, just before Election Day. I have a mock-up of the proposed ad if you'd like to see it. E-mail me.
