Tasting Notes: Solani Aged Burley Flake
Chances are you have either already heard of Solani or smoked at least one of their offerings. Several of their blends are on the top of many smoker's "must try" lists, and Aged Burley Flake (or Blend 656) is no exception. It's regarded as one of the finest Burley flakes on the market today, and we definitely agree. Stylistically it's more along the lines of the natural-flavored Burley blends of old and is a great replacement for the long-lost "Slices" by a certain marque. If you already appreciate Burley leaf, then this simply belongs in your rotation. If you've been curious where to start your journey into Burleys, then here you go! This exceptional flake is at once both rustic and elegant. Truly a modern classic.

Shane - I LOVE the Aged Burley Flake. The Whisky Thief wrote about it in his "Bourbons & Burleys" blog post series. Thought you might enjoy if you didn't see it: http://rokstarpipes.com/the-whisky-thief/2014/4/22/bourbons-and-burleys-no1
Great review, as always, Shane. ABF is one of my favorites. Easy to smoke, easy to fall in love with.
@Unclebuccs @Dan Thanks guys!
@Unclebuccs I have read that blog; it's great! The Aged Burley Flake is one of those blends that deserves every bit of it's hype.
@Dan Thanks, man! It's such a solid smoke. Have you ever had the old U.K. made Edgeworrth Slices?
Shane, I haven't tried the Solani Aged Burley Flake (656), but I must know, what is that gorgeous straight stem in which you are smoking the Solani? I WANT IT! Just wrap it in a $20 bill and mail it to me. :-)
@Michael Locke That is a Brad Pohlmann Pencil Shank Poker form a few years back. It's my go-to 'Burley' pipe and I don't think you'd ever be able to convince me to let this one go! :)
