About This Cigar
The act of apostasy defines an event wherein one refuses to follow or obey the tenets of a faith or religious organization, the commission of which then makes one an apostate. Apostate Cigars was founded in 2021 by Kendrick Woolstenhulme and Brandon Overson, both former members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, who named their company in reference to the Mormon stricture of abstaining from tobacco. Founded in rebellion, Apostate Cigars aims to blend the traditional with the unorthodox, creating unique cigars that are as rich with flavor as they are with story.
The Lianhona is named after the orb-shaped, twin-spindled brass compass that allegedly led the Mormon prophet Lehi out of Jerusalem before the Babylonian exile. Blend-wise, the Lianhona features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder, and fillers from Paraguay and the Dominican Republic, combining for a medium-bodied smoke primed to compliment a morning coffee or top off the day with equal aptitude. This particular cigar is part of the Eight Witnesses subseries, a line containing all eight of Apostate's blends in a single, 4.5 x 44 Petit Corona vitola. Referring to one of the groups of witnesses who had supposedly seen the Golden Plates fundamental to the LDS faith, the cigars in this line are excellent for anyone wanting to sample Apostate's blends in a consistent, shorter-smoking format.
