About This Cigar
The act of apostasy defines an event wherein one refuses to follow or obey the tenets of a faith or religious organization, the commission of which then makes one an apostate. Apostate Cigars was founded in 2021 by Kendrick Woolstenhulme and Brandon Overson, both former members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, who named their company in reference to the Mormon stricture of abstaining from tobacco. Founded in rebellion, Apostate Cigars aims to blend the traditional with the unorthodox, creating unique cigars that are as rich with flavor as they are with story.
The Feathered Serpent is named in honor of Quetzalcoatl, the ancient Mesoamerican creation god of arts, knowledge, and the sun, whose most recognizable form is that of a giant snake with feathers lining its body. The cigar itself features a vibrant Candela wrapper of Dominican Corojo leaf covering a Mexican San Andrés binder and Dominican fillers, the coloration reminiscent of many artistic interpretations of Quetzalcoatl's bestial form. This particular cigar is part of the Eight Witnesses subseries, a line containing all eight of Apostate's blends in a single, 4.5 x 44 Petit Corona vitola. Referring to one of the groups of witnesses who had supposedly seen the Golden Plates fundamental to the LDS faith, the cigars in this line are excellent for anyone wanting to sample Apostate's blends in a consistent, shorter-smoking format.
