About This Cigar
The act of apostasy defines an event wherein one refuses to follow or obey the tenets of a faith or religious organization, the commission of which then makes one an apostate. Apostate Cigars was founded in 2021 by Kendrick Woolstenhulme and Brandon Overson, both former members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, who named their company in reference to the Mormon stricture of abstaining from tobacco. Founded in rebellion, Apostate Cigars aims to blend the traditional with the unorthodox, creating unique cigars that are as rich with flavor as they are with story.
The Sword of Laban is named in reference to the eponymous weapon, taken from its namesake owner and used by Nephi, the son of the prophet Lehi, to slay him following Laban's theft of the Lehi fortune and attempted killings of Nephi and his brother. With an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper, Mexican San Andrés Binder, and Dominican fillers, the Sword of Laban offers a more reserved Corojo experience, with rich flavors that abound with subtleties. This particular cigar is part of the Eight Witnesses subseries, a line containing all eight of Apostate's blends in a single, 4.5" x 44 Petit Corona vitola. Referring to one of the groups of witnesses who had supposedly seen the Golden Plates fundamental to the LDS faith, the cigars in this line are excellent for anyone wanting to sample Apostate's blends in a consistent, shorter-smoking format.
