Eladio Diaz Cigars
While he was still the production chief for Davidoff’s Dominican operation, Eladio Díaz made blends for approval by the headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. For years, he was kept in the shadows, that is until the Oro Blanco was introduced in 2014, which featured his name and signature on the packaging.
After this, starting with his 50th birthday, Eladio would celebrate his birthday by making a new cigar for himself. They were never sold; he would smoke them and hand them out to people. Skip Martin got one he made for his 55th birthday and announced that it was one of the best cigars he smoked that year and that it was quite interesting; it had the flavor complexity of a Davidoff, but the power that their cigars never captured. With that, Eladio Díaz Birthday Blend became an elusive smoke.
Eladio left Davidoff in 2021 and started a factory with his family, Tabacalera Díaz Cabrera. The focus at first was to make cigars for brands like J. London, Somm, and others, but recently, they have developed blends featuring Eladio’s name. The first cigar came out in 2023: the Eladio Díaz 70 Aniversario. A year later, the Eladio Díaz 71 Aniversario was announced.
