About This Cigar

To say that Lost & Found is a special project is to put it somewhat mildly. Lost & Found is a clandestine endeavor created by Robert Caldwell of Caldwell Cigar Company. The brand itself doesn't fashion or create any of their own cigars, per se. Instead, Caldwell has utilized the potential of "lost" cigars forgotten in the vast warehouses of other manufacturers. It goes something like this: Whenever a cigar brand rolls and boxes cigars for a particular line or release, they're inevitably left with, well, leftovers — either only so many boxes were made or the series was capped at a certain number, the surplus left on the factories' shelves. Caldwell, then, "finds" these "lost" cigars, rebrands them, and offers them to consumers. While the blends' original components and company of manufacture remain anonymous, connoisseurs can count on them being from some of the most reputable names in the industry and having several years worth of age to them. Lost & Found offers some of the best kept secrets in the cigar industry and has developed a loyal following.

Built as Robert Caldwell's ideal travel-friendly smoke, The Layover features a Dominican Negrito Añejado wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. It's offered in a portable 4.25" x 54 vitola and delivers the flavor of a full-sized stick but in a condensed format, perfect for enjoying en route to your next destination.

Can’t knock the cigar, only the condition in which I received it.

Product: Lost & Found The Layover
I wish I had a review for the cigar itself; however, it wouldn’t be fair to review it based of this smoking experience. To preface the rest of this review, I order cigars from smoking pipes fairly regularly. Every other order I’ve placed, the cigars are in fantastic condition…either smoke ready, or they need a couple hours to rest before cutting and lighting. This order…not so much. I received this order yesterday and put the cigars in my humidor (solid 68%, 68-70 degrees F). Just pulled one of The Layover’s from my order out to give it a try…almost bone dry, burns hot, no flavor. Check my other cigars from this order (1 mor The Layover, 2 each of Skinny Monsters Wolf, Face, Jason, and Frank, and on DTT Stillwell Star Holiday 2024) and all felt the same…extremely dry. I checked the condition of the rest of the cigars in my humidor and all were in great condition. I usually keep the humidor-bags smoking pipes used to ship cigars for a couple days after receiving my orders and they still maintain a humidified environment, even as I am throwing them away. The bags in this shipment are pretty dry in comparison to past orders. Hoping a few weeks in the humidor will revive them, otherwise I’ve lost $100 worth of cigars. I have another order of about $60 worth of cigars coming in soon and hope I don’t experience the same thing or I’ll have to stop buying cigars from smoking pipes....Read More
