About This Pipe
Chris Asteriou is no stranger to classic Anglo-French shapes, so this Rhodesian fits right into Chris's wheelhouse. What's surprising, though, is that we haven't seen this design from the Greek carver since 2014, and it strays somewhat from Asteriou's typically more slender, streamlined aesthetic. Instead, it opts for quite muscular proportions through the shank and bowl. Specifically, this Rhodesian is a take on an old Comoy's shape. Similar to the "283" design, Chris's rendition features a stout style in a compact form, the shape's characteristic beadlines positioned just above the transition. It's all dressed in a warm sandblast, replete with stunning ring grain, and though proportionally bolder than Asteriou's typical fare, fits right into the carver's portfolio of expertly crafted classics.
