About This Pipe
Jerry Zenn, a distinguished pipe carver from East Asia, dedicated 25 years to working as an automotive mechanic. Although the connection between these two professions may not be immediately apparent, his background in ensuring the correct fitting of particular automotive components is highly relevant in the creation of high-quality pipes. This Poker showcases that expertise, reflecting his Danish influence and talent for crafting pipes that blend graceful curves with organicism. This unique rendition sees an exceptionally tall, forward-urging bowl that one would imagine takes most of this pipe's visual emphasis, but this weight is dispersed to the unusual stretch of shank out back. Said shank is crafted from bottle gourd, also known as Calabash, carved into an almost spherical shape that breaks up the otherwise sharp muscularity of this piece. A black, stylized stem completes the silhouette; its inky color pairs well with the dark sandblast of the bowl, nicely contrasting with the warm-hued shank they bookend.
