lid off and the moisture level went from sticky to perfect. 2. This is a light crossover blend. If you are looking for a Lat Bomb, this doesnt fit the bill. HOWEVER, once it has had a chance to dry out a bit and relax in your cellar, this is a truly remarkable smoke. Very mellow, has that easy, cloudlike mouthfeel and smooth exhale and retrohale that FMC had. You cannot beat it for the price. hat 504c Aromatic English was likely the blend. So, I ordered a couple of ounces from Smoking Pipes to see, and I nailed it. This blend is a nice Enlgish with some sweetness, and is more of a Scottish than an English in my opinion. Either way it's a very pleasant smoke that has a really nice room note. This gives us an opportunity to enough a full bodied smoke and those around us can enjoy the room note. Winner, winner! There is an aromatic quality, but it's not over powering, just a subtle kind of liquor sweetness to it. I keep craving it, and will likely have to get it by the pound on future orders. Read Less

nglish" blends and found a couple that I like. I've got jars of Lane's HGL and Karer's Blend for Cary Grant. But, honestly, while those are good blends, "I still hadn't found what I was looking for" (sorry U2).
And then I bumped into Stuliff's 504C.
When I opened the bag, the smell was intoxicating. There was the nice smell of vanilla (I believe) but not too over powering. I could still make out the nuttiness of the burley and hints of incense-y Latikia.
The bag was very wet. Very. Wet. I left it in the bag for the duration and it never completely dried out. I'm not sure if this is done so that it doesn't dry out "on the shelf" but it would benefit from not being so wet.
With that stated, however, it still smoked fine. I packed it very lightly and lit my pipe. The taste was outstanding! I first tasted the light topping (maybe vanilla or caramel or perhaps some plum or rum) and then the earthiness from the burley came through. Then, in wisps once in a while, I get the slight incense of the Latikia.
As I was smoking it a colleague stopped by and said that he really liked the way it smelled. I offered him a bowl and excused myself. When I came back I caught a waft of the tobacco. "Oh my gosh," I exclaimed. "When I think of pipe tobacco, that's EXACTLY what I think of!"
It became my all-day, go-to blend. Sadly, I've since run out it and am smoking my other tobaccos before I order more of this.
The subtilty is there from all the components--the earthiness of the burley, the gentle sweetness of the cavendish, and the light wisps of incense from the Latikia. It's all blended so beautifully and each part of the symphony plays off each other in a very balanced way. Read Less

htly robust signature of sweet, spice and smokiness with a little hint of straight tobacco leaf, like a fine cigar. As you continue down the bowl, the smokiness and spice begin to slowly intensify keeping you interested in the journey. I really enjoy drinking a black cup of coffee in the morning with it and a root beer in the afternoon with it. I could see a good whiskey or scotch to pair with this tobacco as well. Read Less

to be found, and I was quite viciously sipping at this! I will be buying more to cellar. For the cost, availability, and overall experience, this was a win for me. This does require some additional dry due to the topping/casing. Read Less

Taste is medium and consistent, with notes of smoky, very wood, molasses, spicy, incense, toast, spice, dry, herbal/floral, buttery, mildly musty vegetation, bitter, a sweet brown sugar background note, and a peppery retro. Nice blend. Falls on the aromatic side. If you smoke mainly aromatics and are looking to venture out, this one's a winner. If you smoke mainly english/balkans , this one might not be for you.

and similar to smoking hot air. I've honestly tried to like Sutliff, but their products just don't appeal to me. The only two I can get behind are the Peterson Match mixtures of EMP and Nightcap... the Late Evening Match is actually a pretty good mixture - despite lacking any richness. s not a blast to the senses.. the addition of a light topping of vanilla brings out the sweetness and to me compliments the sweetness and smokiness of the Latakia.This cool burning blend is nutty,Virginia sweet, and has just enough sour and tangy notes to keep me very interested throughout the bowl.while smoking it eventually gives a really toasty flavor to the overall blend. This to me is a good all day smoke, and I would imagine that anyone who likes Latakia blends would really enjoy this one as well..I still have about 6 ounces, and with my rate of smoking this should last at least another half a year.by then I'm sure it will have blossomed into an even better blend. A really nice blend of sweet Cavendish and latakia. Smokes very cool and the taste is a mix of various levels of sweetness. Becoming a favorite. This could have been a codger blend had it came out decades ago.
