About This Pipe Tobacco

In 2001, I had the honor and pleasure of collaborating with G.H. & Co.'s John Gawith on a very special tobacco, and after nearly a year of development, Stonehenge Flake, a modern VA/Perique blend steeped in English tradition, was born.

Fine Virginias are layered with Louisiana Perique, and just a touch of Burley for added body and a fuller flavor, then steamed, hot-pressed, and matured. The cakes are thinly sliced and tinned, ready for your smoking pleasure — today, and for many years to come.

Tin note ripe fruit, Rasin and vinegar. Tobacco flakes are brown and dense, cubes nicely and/or rubs out with a little effort. Tobacco maybe a little sticky, no drying out needed. Burns nicely and slow with average amount of relights. The strength is med and nic is mild-med. Floral flavor is consistent throughout, though no coca was detected. Tobacco taste sweet, floral and mildly spice. Virginias leads with perique supporting. Burleys peek through in the background. Room note got a compliment from the wife, and aftertaste was great too....Read More

There is no Lakeland scent in this. I've smoked many and that scent is not here. Which is nice for me.
A solid medium blend which smokes very smoothly. Slight cocoa scent in the tin.
The reason why is smokes so mildly is this:
"steamed, hot-pressed, and matured."
I enjoyed this much more than any Gawith+Hoggarth bulk blend that I have tried. Perique is simply a condiment, as it should be.

My tin was seven months old. Very enjoyable VaPer for my taste buds. We are having monsoon weather. Heat and humidity, so this type of smoke is light and relaxing. Picking up a buttery smoothness that seems unique to this VaPer. Should have purchased more tins. Now, it's sold out. My G.L. Pease tobacco cabinet is stacked and stocked with most of his 12 top tobacco blends as featured in the article. I had 7 out of 12 before the article. Now, I have 10 out of 12. So, I'm a big fan.
