This is one of the cheapest tobacco in my experience, but it tastes great. Easy to keep lit on and avoid a tongue bite. Perfect example of "More expensive products not always better".

I opened the heavy zip locked bag and was greeted by an unmistakable aroma of fine English tobacco. The cut was predominantly fine, with multiple larger chunks of flake and crumble cake throughout the pound. The Virginias and Oriental were clearly there, and there was a definite healthy portion of Latakia there as well...and the spicy zing of Perique. I could tell this was going to be good.
I loaded up a vintage WDC Dublin with this very east to pack tobacco (almost a rough/cube cut but English???) and laid the match to it. Whoa! An intense burst of Latakia and Perique straight away, a quick tamp and kiss of the still burning match, and off to the party! The bowl settled down quickly, with a nice underpinning of sweetness from quality Virginias, drifting in and out of a nice breadiness as the Burley interplayed with them...and a lovely almost floral, incense like note from the Orientals played peek a boo with the delicious smoky roundness of the Latakia. This was really, really good for what was more or less an accidental blend!
I sifted through the pound and pulled out a full film canister worth of crumble cake chunks that are quite dark and Latakia heavy...I am guessing bits of Pirate Kake...just a lovely bonus in what was already a slam dunk win. This tastes great on its own, and blends well also...I blended this in equal parts with unflavored toasted Burley and straight unflavored natural Dutch cavendish, which yielded an amazingly flavorful smoke...and added one part of this to three parts of an unconvincing black and gold Whiskey cavendish blend, which yielded a surprisingly tasty result and a very pleasant room note...and some oomph that the original tobacco was lacking.
So in short...this tobacco is well worth the price...it is totally palatable as it comes, yields little hidden treasures if you take the time to look for them, and it blends well with both natural and aromatic tobaccos to yield quite pleasant personal blends. A resounding WIN In my book!
I was well aware of all the above within the first 24 hours of receiving this tobacco...but I hedged my bet and waited to put in this review until now. You see, I called to check on when the GC Double Down (Va/Bur) mix would be back in Stock, and knew it would go quickly, so I kept checking back on the site every few hours...just caught it at like 2:30 in the morning with only 48 ounces left in stock, so I snatched up two pounds... and you can bet I grabbed another pound of Boneyard while I was at it.
It's nice to know, even though I have no idea exactly what my Double Down will be like, that it is a safe bet it will put a grin on my face to rival the Cheshire Cat!

After such a great experience with two pounds of this purchased a couple weeks apart, I took the plunge and ordered seven pounds of this. I am very, very happy I did. This time around, all seven pounds were composed primarily of very good sized broken flake, with some impressive chunks of plug. This is a bit less spicy and a tad less smoky than the last two times I got it, but it is a very cool burning, quite satisfying smoke, if anything, a more balanced blend that the others. Its aroma has already garnered a compliment from a passing Neighbor and a nod from the resident Room Note Critic, and I have barely finished jarring it to be celllared. Once the FDA has its way and outlaws this fantastic quality blend at an incredibly affordable price, I will mourn its passing...but I will have enough to last me a good long while before that day comes.
I guess you could say this is an every day, go to tobacco for me. I enjoy it more than tobacco I have purchased for many, many times the paltry sum I paid for this fine leaf. I will be purchasing this in quantity until it is no longer available. Read Less

e of a return. Well when I completed my recent order that included Grans Croupier Boneyard, that was exactly how I felt. I had hoped that it would be at best, smoke-able. When my order hit my mail box faster than I thought possible, I was Impressed. When I opened the box and found a bag not of powdery shake but beautiful big pieces of tobacco, I was astounded. Opening the bag and inhaling the unmistakable fragrance of Latikia, seeing the many shades of Virginia; golden flakes, rich brown pressed pieces, bready red shag...I was grinning like the Cheshire cat. The true proof was when I filled my pipe and touched a match to it. Latakia's smokey goodness, sweet Virginia, and more, the high piping of orientals and a peppery taste that could only be perique, all there, blending in a cloud of full thick smoke.
I have paid orders of magnitude more for hallowed names on small tins and not been near as pleased as I am with this "catch as catch can" blend. Gentlemen, place your bets, we already have ourselves a winner. Read Less

Update 11/7/21 - Well, I guess it was bound to happen. The popularity of this blend and the fact that it's often "out of stock" has led to an unannounced price hike. That's a shame. Still, there are no good similarly priced substitutes for it, even at the new price. So I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and pony up the extra four bucks the next time I order it. Damn.

ust flakes (reminding me of wood chips) are much too deep. So I sat back to think of what I might blend with it to bring out some distinction. Most blends have some experience they are trying to craft, but Boneyard is a single bass strumming loudly in the distant background. It kept hammering away with its deafening white noise of tobacco flavor. I've had nothing like it. What message is it trying to send?!? I decided it doesn't need to be mixed with anything, it has it all, sublimated to perfection. I know what I like in tobaccos, but this teaches me what I should like. 性价比非常高的一款草，应该是目前最便宜的L草，跟这个品牌的名字一样，每个批次草都不一样，全靠运气，好在都不难抽，比不少价格高的散草体验还好一些，有的批次甚至可以用非常美味来形容。裁切就真的像墓地一样，各种形状的草混杂在一起，而且还有大量的碎渣，不过这个价格还能要求什么呢，任何时候不想抽，倒掉就是了。

t I imagine is a large mixture of the different casings applied to the various blends. The pipes I smoked we're medium in strength, flavor and nicotine, perhaps edging towards medium-full. Mostly ribbon cut with the occasional chunk of a cake blend. If every batch comes like mine then Boneyard is well worth the price and I highly recommend giving it a try. this smoke to be horrible, being as it's a collection of the butt ends of many different kinds. It wasn't horrible at all; in fact, it was quite good. I love Latakia blends, and this one had enough to be quite noticeable, but not overwhelming. If I knew anything at all about blending my own tobacco and did so, I wouldn't be ashamed to tell anyone that this was my own creation. My pound wasn't dust at all, as stated by someone else, but mainly just a cut of small pieces, the correct name of which I don't know. It's better than any "drugstore" brand I've ever smoked, and better than more than a few popular tinned tobaccos costing many times as much. In short, I like it; I consider my gamble well-paid off --- this was a big winner! Read Less

adventure. Pretty Englishy. Different depending on where you grab from in the bag. I clearly see some top tier ingredients in this blend. Crumble cake, flakes, broken flakes, hunks of lati and dark fired. All floating in a sea of ribbons. I can't keep my nose out of the bag. So cool. which would be Burley blends and Aros. With all that being said here are my thoughts.
Boneyard comes as a hodge podge of sliced flakes, ribbon, and various cuts from leftover C&D blends. The tobacco is perfect moisture but does take some time to get lit properly, but once it does it burns very slow. Flavor is a nice complex English not unlike B.S. Match and at around $16 a pound it is a incredible value and its no wonder it is sold out most of the time as this is a great way to beef up your cellar and get a inexpensive smoke that would fool most people in a blind taste test. Whats not to love here as long as you can enjoy a English blend this is a MUST TRY IMO. Read Less

ecause that was all that was left in stock at the time. I'm anxious to see how it is when it acquires some age. At this price, I can easily cellar a good portion of every pound I purchase, and compare the various "vintages" in a year, two years, or more. The tobacco is high quality, just what we expect from Cornell & Diehl. My first pound had all the flavor profiles that I look for in an English or a Balkan blend, just not in the usual proportions. Since it's an ever-changing blend there is no point in trying to describe particular tastes, but I can see a good percentage of flake, sparkling with sugar crystals so, it's a good Virginia. The Latakia is lighter than I prefer, but it's certainly there, as are some spicy Orientals. Read Less

pointingly flavorless -- until I mixed the big bag with my hand to bring the more humidified leaf in the middle out to the surface, which changed its character dramatically. Now I'd say it's perfectly hydrated, and I have sealed it in a container. On a much more representative second smoke... It's quite peppery, I'm guessing from a measure of Perique. It's not overly smoky, but there is a little leather in it. And it's delightfully sweet, probably more like quality black Cavendish than like bright Virginia. It offers a pleasant salty aftertaste. It lights well and stays lit. I am not quite sure what known mixture to closely compare it to, as it is highly complex. I'll say it's like a hybrid of Dunhill's My Mixture 965, GL Pease Quiet Nights, and Lane 1-Q. An amazing value. If it's consistently this good I'll buy another pound or two for the cellar. Read Less

ure content was OK to good. the cut is all over the place, as one would expect. A vast majority being chopped pieces in random size and quantity. Mostly golden through dark brown and black, with smatterings of lighter pieces. Surprisingly i did find a number of flake pieces and some crumble cake style chunks. a couple were of significant size. "This is fun!" I thought. I took the time to sift it and pull out the larger cakes and flakes, which I stored separately. Why not, right?
The first bowl was pleasant. The virginias in my sample were superb. the latakia is a minor player. i got a lot of pepper from it though. Perique... Sipping gently produced sweetness from the virginias with a bit of the smokey, incense-like latakia and a bit of something buttery coming through here and there. But boy, it was spicy and peppery! Decent nicotine level. Wasn't a horribly cool smoke, but i can fix that.
I have no expectations for any level of consistency flavor/strength as i make my way through my 8oz purchase due to what it is. a mulligan stew of sorts. As others have also said, I have paid way more for blends that were not nearly as pleasing. I cant see how someone could go wrong throwing this on wit their next order. With a little bit of everything, you're sure to find at least one quality you'll enjoy. At worst, your out very little for something to help pad your cellar... Read Less

The fact that this is a mystery blend of different English blends make this a fun blend to try. fter day, for twenty years just because it's cheap. But I was intrigued to try some of these Grand Coupier bulk tobaccos, because I think it's important to "try" everything, to be a well rounded, educated pipe smoker. Billed as an assortment of English blends, Boneyard seemed like a good choice, what with my preference for Latakia laced tobacco. I was somewhat disappointed that in this particular batch, there seems to be little if any Latakia smokiness or fragrance. The flavor is hard to describe other than to say that I found it quite strong, definitely not for the novice smoker. The flavor's not bad, but reminded me of a double Ligero cigar with all strength, but not a complex or enjoyable flavor. Also yoou should know (and I should've expected) that this is made up of the ENDS of many different tobaccos and therefore comes to you as almost dust. The tiny fragments, and virtual dust that you'd have at the end of a bag of bulk tobacco. This makes it difficult to pack a bowl without a mouthfull of tobacco on your first draw. You need to pack the bowl fairly tight, which makes the draw a little tight as well. The stuff burns fairly quickly too so frequent tamping helps keep the bowl lit. Once lit it was not difficult to keep it going. Overall I'd rate this experiment a disappointment, but not a failure. Read Less
