Lane Limited: BS-005 Pipe Tobacco

This is a nice, smooth tobacco that smokes better than it smells. If not kept in the back of a drawer, the aroma of this tobacco alone will fill a room.

I am a big fan of "lat bombs". BS-005 does not disappoint but its not as big a hitter as other "lat bombs" out there. At first smoke, it doesn't seem to be a very complex blend but you will see, as I did, that there is a lot going on in this blend. Obviously the Latakia brings in it's smoky, heavy flavor but the Turkish and Virginias in the blend are where it gets interesting. Virginia is high in sugar and burns hot. This sets off why the Turkish (think oriental) is important in this blend as it tends to burn cooler. All of these components together reward the smoker with a very fine and enjoyable smoke. Also, as other reviewers have stated, bulk quantities can be quite dry when they arrive at your doorstep. I salute the gents who call this recipe light. In my opinion this is high on the Latakia side with the Virginia barely noticeable.It is SmOkEy GoOD! Rich and very pleasing but seems a little to far on the Latakia side for me.

Whiskey flavor and a woody smell of smoke English blend of Turkish, Virginia, and Latakia You can feel the blend of smoke from the woody smell of the beautifully tasty and tongue bite is definitely not there.

OK, I was very pleasantly surprised by this one. When my bulk portion arrived, it was almost too dry and smoked a little on the harsh side. I took some and humidified it gently and wow, now it smokes very cool and smoky, nice creamy Latakia, with just enough interest from the Oriental component poking through. It's become one of my "go to" evening tobaccos, making me smile every time I fire up a bowl. I think this one sings in a larger bowl, and otherwise, it's over too soon, plain and simple! I tried this tobacco on a whim and was pleasantly surprised how it stood up to the other English tobaccos . . . tall I would say, and not because of its top hat. Has no bite, burns well, and stays lit once lit. I have made it my "after 5:00pm smoke" as far as the rotation goes. It's a damn good smoke....Read More

This is a very nice lighter English, comparable to many 'breakfast' blends. Just enough Latakia, nicely balanced, a pleasant smoke at an attractive price.
