nly Mac Baren can pull off (RIP MB) and they do, understanding how this blend is made and the process is what I respect the most from this epic tobacco and the balance of flavor is just on point for me, the only reason people are bitten by Mac Barens tobaccos is the fact that they puff like a locomotive not taking the time needed to enjoy this fine blend as with any blend in general, the art of pipe smoking is a must for HH Balkan, when I started smoking the pipe I used to say Mac Baren bites and I do not care for there tobaccos until a few years later I began to revisit Mac Baren and now a loyal smoker of there tobaccos, well at least now from what I have left from them in the cellar, had to grab one last pound to age. This is some of the best tobacco you can ever smoke in the world and nothing compares to HH Balkan. If you find that your being bitten often by pure tobacco leaf mixture's slow it the heck down, if your in a rush choose another style of tobacco but like a fine cigar you must not be in a rush, relax sit back and savor the smoke one small puff at a time, it's not tea so the sip it term nah not for me but calm cool and collective works for me. The heat can and will destroy some of those hidden gems hiding inside the leaf and keeping it cool will always deliver a wonderful smoke and with no bite whatsoever....Read More

hey ride front seat with the Burley. Most Balkans slap you in the face with Latakia and sun-cured... this doesn't, and I like it. There's a softness to which the component notes present themselves, indicating a great deal of effort went into its design. Someone noted it's akin to scotch neat vs scotch and soda... great analogy that sums this up. Balkans are inherently rich and flavorful in their design, and this is too, but in a gentle way. I like the subtle maple sugar sweetness in this and love that the latakia isn't so dominating. While some have attempted to create something similar, there's an aged, mellow and unified quality to this mixture as often found in steamed and pressed flakes. Other mixtures come close but their components are distinctly assertive. The gentle lightness of this Balkan makes it a wonderfully fitting summer English. Like all of HH tobaccos, the finish is clean. There's no lingering aftertaste. Sadly, this and all other HH tobaccos will soon be discontinued and become extinct due to the utterly contemptable mediocrity of STG. I didn't get much nicotine from this as I just finished a large bowl of my wife's beef stew, a helping of homemade sour dough bread and marble cake. I smoked it in one of my many Scott's burners (a favorite traditional small French billiard stummel)....Read More
