About This Pipe
Per Georg Jensen and his wife founded the Georg Jensen pipe factory in Copenhagen in 1954, passing it on to their daughter Lis and son Per Georg in the 1980s. The factory closed in 2001 when the younger Per Georg went to work for Mac Baren Tobacco Company, but their pipes live on as fine examples of Danish craftsmanship.
This Canadian from the Georg Jensen factory wears alternating cross grain and birdseye on the traditional, straight-walled Billiard bowl with a light mahogany stain that gives the stummel a rich contrast with the black of the vulcanite stem. As is traditional, the shank is lengthy and ovoid in shape, stretching this piece past five and a half inches but allowing it to be quite light at just under one and a half ounces. It's a straightforward interpretation of the shape, but sure to satisfy fans of the Canadian looking for a well-made specimen.
