About This Pipe
Just a straightforward, classic take on the old Apple shape, this Dunhill Shell Briar from the early '60s is a great example of the marque's approach to shape design. The bowl is softly rounded and plump as can be, with just a touch of extra height to the rim. The shank and stem follow an elegant taper, seemingly giving the curvaceous bowl even more visual weight. As you might expect, it offers a comfortable feel in hand, with impressively stout chamber walls for a subtle warmth when smoked. And the extra extra dark sandblast is at once both craggy and detailed, showcasing deep craters of blasted birdseye and finer displays of vertical ring grain alike.
