About This Pipe
One of England's few artisan pipe makers, Chris Askwith is also a remarkably skilled silversmith. In addition to his stunning silverwork, Askwith's pipes are known to feature a wide variety of materials, and they often offer modern twists on classic silhouettes. Fashioned from morta, and featuring a particularly striking stem, this Prince offers an excellent demonstration of Askwith's penchant for using unconventional materials and finish work.
In terms of shaping, this Prince is actually quite faithful to the shape-chart standard: The composition consists of a squat, plump bowl perched pertly at the fore of a short, round shank joined by a lengthy stem with a graceful downturn toward the bit. Said stem has a fetching, striped appearance, featuring alternating strips of black and dusty lavender, which pair excellently with the inky color and distinctive grain of the morta stummel.
