About This Pipe
Swedish brothers Martin Vollmer and Anders Nilsson started their pipe-making careers with their kitchen table and a copy of Bjørn Thurmann's The Pipemaker's Handbook, eventually working their way up to making pipes for sale inspired by the likes of Sixten Ivarsson, Bo Nordh, and Björn Bengtsson.
This Canadian from the brothers is an example of their fondness for classic shaping and fine craftsmanship. It's sandblasted to emphasize fine cross grain and birdseye on the bowl, which is very lightly tapered. Sticking to the traditional Canadian shaping, a long, ovoid shank stretches behind the bowl to a very short, tapered vulcanite stem. The lengthy stummel is stained a light brown that contrasts well with the stem, balancing this piece in color to match the excellent shaping. It's a perfect addition to the collection of any fan of classic shapes, particularly the Canadian family.
