Iwan Ries Parma Smooth Rhodesian Sitter (214) Tobacco Pipe

Chicago-based Iwan Ries is the oldest family-owned tobacco shop in the United States. This Rhodesian crafted for them in Italy is unique in the addition of an enlarged heel to allow the piece to sit upright on a flat surface, the lack of beadlines and the tall, only lightly tapered orientation of the lower bowl. The piece is finished very smoothly to allow some handsome birdseye to shine through on the bowl, and the shank is flatly ovoid and brief before the bent vulcanite saddle stem takes over. It's a piece worthy of a shop with a legacy like Iwan Ries, and will no doubt satisfy any collector looking for a unique take on the Rhodesian shape.
