Il Ceppo was founded in 1978 by architect Giorgio Imperatori in Pesaro, Italy — a veritable hotbed of Italian pipe making. The lightly canted bowl of this Dublin from Il Ceppo is composed of eight panels, giving it an octagonal appearance from above, but its maker by no means neglected the grain for the shape. Tendrils of flame grain climb up the bowl on each panel with great poise and rich birdseye dots the wide rim beautifully. The shank is backed by a thick accent ring of silver, which marks the junction with a tapered stem of black acrylic.
