Peter Matzhold Smooth Bent Brandy (6D) Tobacco Pipe

This bent Brandy from Peter Matzhold is a curvaceous handful of briar. The cumberland stem's half saddle leaves the bottom of the stem with a simple taper in order to accentuate the continous undercurve cradling the bottom of the pipe. From the lusciously plump heel, the bowl's walls swell into a low-set waist, then, in the manner of the pipe's namesake, taper roundly into the rim. Out back, the top side of the shank has been rendered flat, as opposed to the roundness beneath, serving to smooth the transition into a softer curve out of the bowl. The warm, auburn stain of the smooth stummel highlights dense flame grain that calls to the stem's brindled strands of color in a harmonious manner.
