I personally like shag cuts. Makes you slowdown and enjoy smoking a pipe. This so far for a 16oz bagged bulk pipe tobacco is pretty much the best I've smoked so far. I like strong Dutch blends. That's just it, this is not overly strong and it's smooth. I like P.S. Amsterdam but it will bite. (Just like all the P.S. blends) This doesn't.
I smoke this all day if not twice a day besides my other daily rotation blends.
So far I haven't grown sick off it.
You get that smokiness and a mellow burly taste every time. If you're on the fence don't be! It's way worth it and if you don't like it? I'll take it off your hands for free, hahaha!

What a waste. I WAS WRONG!

I enjoy strong Burleys, five brothers is my favorite tobacco. I was hoping for something similar. This stuff stinks. It’s like chewing on a mouthful of red peppers. Even mixing it with two timer, couldn’t help. I didn’t like it in fact, I hated it when I first tried it, but it wasn’t the tobacco. It was the lousy corn cob I was using for a week that burnt my throat. I tried the ride back with an Ozark mountain and it was incredible. I would put it at my top three after five brothers and two times. I’m glad I tried it again....Read More

This is a pretty excellent dual-purpose tobacco with an amazing price. If you're looking for a Halfzware type tobacco without paying RYO taxes, I highly recommend it. It is stronger and more rustic that your Stokkebye Amsterdam or Drum/Bali Shags. It lacks the exotic flavors of the dark-fired Shags from Gawith. To make a musical comparison, this is the outlaw country of tobaccos. You won't find that beautiful contrast between the Virginias and Dark-Fired that you might get with something like JackKnife, though the Dark-Fired Kentucky is not dissimilar to what you'd find in that blend. It makes a fantastic roll-up, as fine as I've ever tried.

In a pipe? Sure! It comes dry, and the cut is fine, so it will go quick. But it will deliver pure tobacco tastes that will appeal to burley and DFK lovers, who don't mind missing some of the added frills or exotic notes of something like Kendal Dark, or Birdseye. Very little VA flavor, and certainly none of the sharper, brighter notes from something like Kendal Mixed. That said, if I am looking for something in this genre to pop into a pipe, I'd likely go for Kendal Dark or Dark Birdseye over this.

Also, it's $21 a pound, so there's that.

I switched from cigars to pipes about three years ago because the high price of cigars have put them out of reach for me on a daily basis,I must have about twenty five different pipe blends all non aromatic and all good in their own way but find myself sticking with Dark Burley straight up, Morleys Best and Kendal Kentucky if you prefer a less sophisticated blend or just Burley or DFK don`t let this fly by under the radar it is very good no frills tobacco and great in the morning with strong black coffee.

I've only used it as a RYO so far. By itself it's a decent medium bodied cigarette, but nothing too special. Taste similar to bali shag, but much more natural.

When I blended in 1/4 -1/5 Izmir Turkish and a super light sprinkling of granulated Perique rolled in rice paper with a filter, it wa
s the best cigarette I've ever had. Even just the Turkish, this went from good enough to very good. Occasionally, even mix a tiny bit of very cherry(too loud for the pipe).

I live in CA and used to smoke American Spirits @$12+ a pack.
